I'm changing my review because obviously I did not give enough information. Let me start by saying I wanted this game to be amazing. It's good, sure, but if you already have Job Simulator this is just a re-skin with voice overs. Yes it allows a good amount of "screw around" activities in Rick's garage. I "ALMOST" beat the game, I was misleading before by saying I "completed it". I also let my friends demo the Vive a few times but I was more than 75% through my play through with plenty of "screw around time" mixed along with friend's play-through time added on. I accumulated 2.8 hours of game time.

I also bought two of my friends a copy as well when it came out and they haven't put more than 3 hours into the game.

This isn't a bad game if you don't already have a game to let your friends "try out" on your Vive. Unfortunately if you have lots of experiences on your rig like I do, $30 is a hefty price tag for such a short ride.

In short I refunded my copy before I could no longer do so (read steam's policies) because it simply isn't worth the price. I bought three copies of this game and all of our game time added together doesn't exceed 8 hours.

I'm sorry this isn't the review you wanted.

DISCLAIMER - I bought this game wanting a Monster Hunter clone.

So is this a bad game? No, but I will do my best to describe exactly "what" kind of game this is so no one is mislead like I was.

If you like Dynasty Warrior then I think you will enjoy this. It is a hybrid between that kind of hack n slash OP gameplay and the grind/crafting that a Monster Hunter game would show off. Unfortunately that's where the similarities end. Expect a casual auto-pilot story where you are supposed to care about a village and your romantic interest all while be told to kill the same monster over and over again in different locations. I never felt accomplished after beating a boss or scared to face anything whilst playing the game. The crafting allows a lot of options but the art style/ over all graphics of the game make me not care about when and what I will craft to replace my current gear.

  • What I was expecting was a thrilling challenge, a variety of different monsters and animals, a living breathing outdoors to weather and visuals that make me proud of my kills/ gear.

  • What I got was a demon slaying cruise including the drink package, the same monster over and over again, a map that made me question the entire premise of the game and boring boss battles wear we gang raped every challenge and received the same weapons and move sets with different color palates.

It's not bad, but it's not a Monster Hunting game by any means.

I bought this game on a gamble hoping that it would be just a fun sports ball get away. I can't confirm the game is anything close to that. That is because there is so much more than I was anticipating.
  • This game give me the same thrill Rocket League does
  • I WANT MORE CHALLENGERS
  • Sniped the ball from goal (still proud)
  • I got mopped up by the developer (super humble nice guy)
  • SLAM DUNKED THE DEV (once)
  • With my new found skills mopped up some poor guy wanting a sports ball get away
  • Scared my SO in the room due to flexing and beating my chest
  • Please buy this game and meet me in the arena
  • DON'T BE SCARED OF MY HOVERCRAFT GRENADE LAUNCHING PROWESS

I'm so glad I purchased this game. Right now in a thunderous sea of wave shooters and quirky puzzle games I craved something more familiar. I have played CSGO, ARMA and every Battlefield game out there and I was a little disappointed when I looking through the store when I got my Vive. Luckily I stumbled upon this!

This game really puts you into the fray of battle and has you contemplate suicide when your entire team is dead and your just waiting for one of those guys walking around your building to just storm in. Now I say "has you contemplate suicide" as a good thing. Onward is quite tactical and very immersive, to the point that my nerves get the best of my during the tense "eye of the storm moments" right before a battle.

What has me so thrilled about this game is the fact that they do not skimp out once on the opportunity to implement the immersive qualities VR has to offer.
  • Draw my rifle off my chest (were I chose to have it holstered in game options)
  • Fire wildly into the air at beginning of match (I shouldn't have to explain why)
  • Eject the magazine
  • Take new mag off my belt and load it into the gun
  • Rack the bullet (different based off of gun model)
  • Realize my team is no longer with me (See earlier bullets)
  • Team talks to me through talkies on their shoulder (I don't realize it's on my shoulder till later)
  • Enemy sneaks up on me and empties nothingness into my chest (My guess is that he followed steps 1 & 2 and didn't bother reloading)
  • I light the guy up (giggling like a little girl)
  • AT THAT MOMENT I REALIZE WHERE THE TALKIE IS BECAUSE I CAN HEAR HIS TEAM FROM HIS SHOULDER
  • I then describe in full detail how their team mate was killed and how they are next
  • I'm sniped for screwing around with a dead guys walkie talkie (I deserved it)

    Made you look

This game is everything I wanted it to be.

So I bet a ton of you put off this game for as long as you could because it seems like a great 2 hour ride but not for the price. I was just like you, I downloaded Gorn, Spell Fighter and more to try to convince myself I could get great experiences like this for a lower price. First off the game is gorgeous, too gorgeous (you'll need a meaty GPU for this one, I currently run a GTX980). Second off it's not just a lazy wave shooter with bright colors, THIS GAME GOT ME BREATHING! I was exhaling on my shots and between my dashes. I say dashes because I think this game does a great job of implementing the "teleport" function and didn't break immersion for me too much.

What I liked the most was the friendly player base and how easy it is to hop into someone's game or point at a person with a funny name and ask them to join you. I skipped all tutorials after the first because I had friends pointing me (literally) in the right direction the whole time.

I'm almost mad that I'm willing to say this, but this game is actually worth the asking price, and I was skeptical at first.

So when I was a young boy this spectacle of wire frame sliding beauty came. By that I mean the commerciaks were great... but those charlatans!!! People put hard work into this game and that is apparent but the pay off seems to have missed their mark.
The main draw to this game was it's hip new slidey macho man randy savage charm that "at the time" seemed inovative and life long...
but friends, we were fools.
The fast paced shooter has expected elements in a team based FPS including escort, bomb, death match, etc.. It's a bit hectic at times but there is pay off when you pull off elaborate plays utilizing your class ability or equipment. The problem reveals it self when the clunky mobility system drowns out the noise of any seperation from the classes or exchanges of carefully picked equipment. Normally this is a sought after quality when talking about shooters, but the poop in the room that nobody wants to talk about it right under your shoe. The lag spikes (unfortunately they happen alot) along with the dead servers (1-800-CALLMEIFYOUPLAYBRINK), clunky parkour mechanic (#parkourlyfe) and completely vegetable like AI that not only lets you down, but they make you feel sad about real life vegetables. This game shot for the stars but ended up shooting their friend in the woods whilst hunting. Sometimes you can take a buck home friends, but sometimes you kill frank from accounting.

-☆☆☆ 3 STARS
-NOT A BAD SHOOTER
-CLASSES WERE FUN TO PLAY WITH
-GHOST TOWN
-CLUNKY SOFTCORE PARKOUR
-AI IS YOUR NEW MENTALLY CHALLENGED COUSIN

This is a game for everyone. I highly recommend getting this if you like any game that requires personal play style and skill. While its very easy to pick up and play.. mastering rocket league is what gives this game staying power. I play at least once everyday and everyday I find a new way to burst throttle my boost in mid air to allocate the front of my car just right for a 70 ft high goal in mid air. This is simply just a great game.
