For learning guitar? No.

Cheap "amp sim" (no recording), easy play-alongs for songs you already know, and sightreads? Sure. It's basically a glorified Guitar Pro/Power Tab.

First things first, turn off Dynamic Difficulty. It doesn't work. Also, download the no-cable patch from the /r/rocksmith subreddit and use that to avoid buying one of those cheap cables that they require. (Screw hardware DRM)

I wouldn't suggest this game at all to someone that's learning to play. There's much better places to learn proper technique and theory. Though, the little minigames do help for memorizing scales a tiny bit.

CDLC is the only reason I play this game. Check out CustomsForge to find out how to download pretty much any song for FREE.

Early Access Review
Pros:
Amazing Gameplay
Good Concept
Gun Mechanics Easy to Learn, But Hard to Master

Cons:
Optimized Poorly
(30 frames with a 680 and a 4690k?)
They split KotK and JS

Aside from the framerate issues, this game is amazing. I don't see the reason behind splitting up the two games, other than to rake in a bit more cash. For the current price point, buying this game is well worth it.
