This is very rough and is possibly feature incomplete unless I am incapable of figuring out very basic things or misread the Steam sales pitch. It possibly should have been an early access title. I don't see any 'leveling up' to do, unless you simply mean hiring better players. The game autoplays, which is fine - I like auto battlers. The game plays very much like FFFL: Brutal Ball (another very small indie title on Steam) except it's soccer (or if you prefer football) rather than American football but with less features and cards for players. Realms Cup also does not seem to have any stats to follow at all except W/L record which is a shame as stats are the heart to sports sims. The strategies are very basic and offer a couple of 3 position sliders to play with. The game uses AI for alot of things which is also fine for me as I love messing with AI myself and don't expect tiny bedroom devs to spend $ on art when their game is going to get 4 sales. I like the theming as a former Blood Bowl player.
If you watch the trailer and do not intuit any additional functionality from the exact things the video shows, then you know exactly everything the game has to offer. It offers the exact screens the video shows.
It's probably worth $1 or 2 or an hour or 2 of watching chaos unfold.
I'm rating this down as it is at minimum misleading, which make it seem feature incomplete. Or it is simply feature incomplete

I chose to let the AI create my whole world. I chose the name of the adventure so that the AI had something to build off of. I wrote 'a strange community where everyone has an abnormally large sized head'. The AI ran with it and made a whole town full of npcs with 'comically large heads' that had been keeping a secret of the normal sized head people existing elsewhere. My character, with his huge cranium, had discovered this secret and had to physically beat it out the town's 'oracle'. The villagers started a huge riot. It was all very overwhelming and nonsensical so I deleted the file and stared a world where the undersea sea urchin people ran a large swordfish racing league. I couldn't figure out where my swordfish was being trained and spent an hour trying to convince an engineer to sell me the secrets to unbeatable swordfish speed. He refused to help.
I decided that this was an eventful enough first 2hrs that I should write this review.
I'm pretty sure this AI will create nonsense of any variety you wish, for you to larp as a roleplaying gamer in.
AI is coming for your job and I'm pretty ok with it. 8 out of 10

I don't write reviews to correct review bombs often but this Ubisoft ex nft 'slop' is very good and I like it quite alot.
A PvP RPS battler with 75k Darkest Dungeon-esque rocks papers and scissors to throw at each other in a slow paced thoughtful battler I can jump on and off of in a minute? Sign me up.

Funny I downloaded this in May when it launched and thought to myself 'hmmm I'll come back to this later' only to completely forget it existed. Then was reminded of it's existence by grifters larping as game reviewers on Youtube who like bashing all things crypto and Ubisoft. Only this version isn't crypto but they are too lazy and dishonest to find out for themselves. So good thing I am a grumpy old ahole who spite tries things to make his own mind up because games media is becoming just like irl mainstream media as in 'I want to believe the opposite of everything they say automatically', because I have spitefully found a new afternoon timewaster that wasn't quite beaten to death yet by gamer mobs

Have you ever thought to yourself 'man I love PS1 era graphics so much! That was such a great moment in time!' or something similar?
I personally think the era of AI art we have right now is one of those moments in time. It's going to get more realistic very quickly. I'm not interested in that though. I like this transitionary period where it's 'uncanny' because it looks almost real, but also completely alien.

I used to think ToME was the greatest roguelike, and greatest game I had ever played. I spent some time to learn this, and even through the complexity and clunkiness, I think this is better than ToME. This may be the greatest unfiltered roleplaying sandbox out there. I mean real roleplaying too. Like make your own goals for no reward other than your own desire to live through your characters eyes as they would live. It's also a terrific horror game and is more terrifying than anything I have ever played. You need an imagination like an 80s kid unless ascii makes you shriek in terror though. 155 hrs in: 50+ characters dead. None have lasted longer than 3 in game days. Most successful run was as a morbidly obese tourist from India who became mutated with tentacle legs, had an insomnia problem and a cocaine problem (possibly related) and had learned a Filipino martial that allowed him to become a force to be reckoned with with merely a plastic shank made out of plastic cutlery. He stole a mountain bike and ran over a mine. You shall be missed Nirav.

this is incredibly good. Killed my entire weekend. I'm a grumpy old man who is well outside of the target demographic of this. I dislike the story, the dialogue, the anime-ness, the music (The Sims?) and the fact that beyond a certain point between matches the option to back out to main menu disappears. I in fact dislike esports as a concept.
I did however play a load of mobas over my gaming life. And I love card games and strategy games. I also like games that are very deep with alot going on under the hood. This is sooo good at these things I overlook the stuff I don't like.
It's kinda team-builder-inception. You have a team of esports 'athletes......(shoot me)' they all have their own stats, cards, traits etc. And you have your team of champions that they play who also have their own stats, cards, and traits. Create a team to pilot a team through a semi-auto-playing moba tournament where you sit back and watch the moba match and influence it's result by playing your team members, and moba champions cards.

I try not to make many reviews anymore as I tend to cringe at my younger self as the years pass. I come from alot of Bloodbowl in the fairly recent past so maybe some of the BB community on my FL reads this. I really don't play much of anything anymore except for quick arcade games or sports sims I can leave auto-playing while I do other things. This game doesn't seem like much at first glance with the 'free' price tag. The DLC adds a bunch of races and flavor and is worth giving this passionate dev some pay. To me this game is best played as an auto-play fantasy setting football game. Like Bloodbowl but auto-chess-ish.
I pick my team - carefully analyze my potential coach to see what he intends to do during the season before hiring him - once it seems like the right candidate he is hired and left to his own devices.
Maybe I draft for him carefully picking players that seem like they will fit his gameplan, maybe I let him go by his draft plan to fill his roster (and keep myself out of his job) and hopefully it aligns well with his gameplan. And then I simply sim each week making all important decisions based upon what the coaches ideas are. Sometimes I watch the games and set it to make the subs when people get injured/die. I could call all my own plays but I don't - this coach needs to do his own job! And at seasons end I decide whether to stick with my coach or not, the free agents and the drafting (whether the coach drafts or me remains to be decided). I like how I can put players on the trading block and offers come in from other teams but it stops alot of potential cheese by leaving this stuff upto the whims of rng as to who will be offered and from what team.
Also if cheating IS your thing there is a large cheat button you can press and just boost or nerf the crap out of whoever you want.
You can run the entire season with all teams controlled by you and if you play it as an 'auto-battler' it isn't even that time consuming or overwhelming. Just a matter of making some decisions and letting the hired coaches do their thing.
It's easy for a few nights of auto-battling to turn into 20+ seasons complete with a readable history and stats and a HOF. You begin to know all the teams and made up players. You feel the pain when the team who has finished last 6 seasons in a row finally drafts a superstar and he dies on his first match.
And to boot the game seems very early. I love all this and it very much seems like a 'work in progress' that will only get better.
The price is free. Definitely worth a try if you like sims, fantasy games, auto-battlers and the idea of Blood Bowl

I love this thing so effing much. Had no idea what I was doing and have been teaching myself over months of effing around. Program has limitations sure. Is a glorious datamosh. You can load in audio streams from places like Bandcamp and arm certain oscillator knobs to the amplitude or frequency while creating glorious psychedelic pieces of video art that mimic old crt scan lines, distorted static snow, small video clips distorted, small bits of pixel art and animation distorted gifs. You can also sync a midi device and arm your pad, keys and knobs to do these same things manually. Cool for making intros for your youtube channel. Cool for making datamosh art works that were 100x more complicated to attempt before.

You are going to have to be a 'self starter' as there is limited learning reference. The manual doesnt make a ton of sense unless you are fluent in tech jargon.
There are serious resolution, clip length, and control functionality limitations that may hinder your overall visions.
Is prone to enormous crashes when you 'overwhelm' it with parameters. Must be very cpu heavy.

As the dev said himself, and I hope I am not improperly paraphrasing here, is that he was treading into unfamiliar, untreaded waters when making this program. It isn't like simulating old crt scanner glitches is a direct science. You will learn more by simply effing with it in wonder.

I spent the first few hours thinking either i couldnt get it to do anything, or it was broken....man am I glad I was wrong.

Also great for taking some mind candy, turning on some tunes and letting your brain melt

This game is primed to become something special and very popular. There's a very passionate, medium sized-ish pvp community. People are serious about this game. Game hindered itself a bit by taking too long too release all the teams and thus people like me almost lost interest and never returned after launch.
Everything about the game is well done. Fun and competitive. Extrememy random and full of personality.
The gaming world should know that 'something is up, they just dont realise what it is yet'

Sitting on the fence about this game? Get in here!
