Slick turn-based action with all the spirit of the older games. Missing some of the tactical depth in places.

For a free-to-play game, perfectly acceptable. Gunfights are standard fare, Call-of-Duty-style engagements which are either spray-and-pray or lose-to-a-sniper duels. Made interesting by the wallhacks-for-everyone HRV and the extensive customisation.

I recommend you don't buy anything from the store using real money since it's astronomically expensive. Expect to pay £5 GBP for minor things like scopes, or £10+ for equipment.

Unforgiving and brutal. This game pushes players to the limits of individual and team skill. Playing solo, or in the public multiplayer, is not recommended.

It has problems - the graphical fidelity of the Unreal 2.5 engine was great in 2008, maybe, and there are severe balance issues - but the core of the game is still tactical and challenging. Each map generally requires a unique strategy, with certain class combinations performing better depending on the map and strategy chosen.

The developer is still adding (small) content updates like maps, and running seasonal updates, this far into the game's lifespan. Not bad.

Update: Content updates have finished with the developers focusing on the sequel.
