Just recently finished this beauty of a game and it was by far one of the best games I have ever played. As nervous as I was going into it being a big Yakuza fan and never having played a turned based game, I can say I was not disappointed. It was such an easy transition from the old combat to this new one, I really had no trouble getting right into playing.

The story was phenomenal, like any Yakuza game the twists and turns, the humor, the heart wrenching moments. It was one of many things that made this such a fantastic game. Some slow moments, but I got too invested in the story and playing to back out over a little yawn period.

What grabbed me the most in this game is "the power of friendship! and being a hero!". Cheesy as it sounds, it's what had me laughing and shaking my head many times during my play through. All of your friends you make are so wonderful and unique in their own way. I do wish there was more backstory to some (most certainly Eri needed more screen time but I am biased). The dining discussions and the random conversation events that would pop up were my favorites. I could go on for hours but this isn't a dissertation, just a review.

And to end this rant review, I can't forget to bring up the wonderful adorable senbei that is Ichiban Kasuga. Our shrub head protagonist has similarities to his predecessors, of course, but they did not slack at all on creating a new character who is just a wonderful, funny, sweet, dumb-ass who can certainly fight but has a lot of living and growing left to do. I really enjoy that they did not just make a new dragon but gave us a dragon-fish instead. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Ichiban.


Long story short - Yakuza: Like a Dragon will show you that when you hit rock bottom, the only way forward is up!

This game (story mode) is beautiful, wonderful, funny, heartbreaking and just perfect. I loved every moment even when I was getting angry, even when ♥♥♥♥ was hitting the fan. It's been a real pleasure playing this game. <3
