I didn't think I would enjoy this game so much since this is not really my kind of game but the cast compelled me to try.

And wow...
I came here specifically for the door (that's Ben Starr's fault). Stayed for everyone else.
I love them all, they are *literally amazing*, such a variety of characters and all of them have their own charm, I caught myself being so invested in their stories, it's not even about dating anymore. Great writing, amazing voices and just so much fun to have here.

I usually do not write reviews until I'm finished with the game but I can't hold myself back here, I want more people to try it out.

I went from "I hate combat in this game" to soloing Simon with Verso, that's how good the game is
seriously, couldn't recommend more, it's beautiful, it's fun, it's addictive and, of course, it's heartbreaking

also, why do I hear french boss music

I've been dreaming of a solo Majima game since I played Y0 so it's like a tailor-made game for the times when I miss him. the story is very lighthearted and quite underwhelming in comparison to other games in the series but the main point of this game is to have fun. which I had a lot of. and I still got my piece of drama anyway, so yeah

I knew exactly what I was getting into and still got hurt in the worst way possible.

honestly, shame on me for actually hoping the game is optimized for the newer PCs and getting excited about this release.

I didn't know you can release a 20 year old game worse than it was before.

the constant crashes, directX error, 800x600 resolution at the start (and yes, I've set up the rules in the graphic rules file), you name it, I've got it.

the game launches each time like it's the first time I ever launch it - the saved game is there but CC checkbox is unchecked, the graphic settings are back to lowest default possible and the tips are popping up which is very annoying.

besides that, the quality of the voices is really bad, the sims sound super compressed.

what else? oh yes, the bugs like disappearing food after cooking, the sim resetting every time they try to sit at the table, the broken alien abduction when the sim just walks away and nothing happens, the graphic settings just unset autimatically right after setting them... the list is effing huge.

waste of money, stick to the ultimate collection if you got it from EA App.
I haven't got one so I HOPED this would be a nice trip down the memory lane. EA, right

This is about the technical issues only, not about the game content or the story.

I'm sure this is a great game and I would really like to play it and get to know the series as Veilguard drops soon and I wanna dive into the lore but in 2024 it's simply unplayable.

First, the game just refused to even launch, crashing all the time at the point of clicking "Play" in the menu and kept redirecting me to a dead website for "DLC activation".

I managed to launch the game after some manipulation with game files but it's still working very poorly.
Textures are messed up (and I've set the graphic settings to a minimum) and the game keeps crashing in the most random moments.

I'm extremely patient but it managed to drive me insane.

Very disappointed.

I have a hate/love story with this game.

I played it the first time on a console and after first 1o hours I rage-quit because it was so hyped at the time, I was overly judgemental about everything and I was MAD. Expectations management failed.
I have a tendency to rush through the story in games which you don't want to do here AT ALL otherwise it's a really disappointing experience.

I came back a week later to give it another go because I'm greedy, deluxe edition for ps5 costed quite a lot. And also curious to know what the hype was actually about.
I did my first playthrough and still was not really impressed, especially by the ending.

What I did like though was music (huge kudos to Borislav Slavov, the music is just magical) and the visuals. The game is such an eye candy! This aspect is important because it pushed me to try the game again but on PC so I can use custom camera tool to take nice pictures.

And here's where the love story begins.

I'm enjoying the game now because I know how I should play it and I'm more or less used to turned-based combat by now. Must admit, not a huge fan of turned-based combat, but it's DnD, it's only right.

Larian Studios did a great job and they continue to provide us with improvements. New kisses animations are amazing, this is something I didn't have the first time and was a bit disappointed by how bland the romances were with just one animation. And it's just one example. There are many more.

I think everyone should at least try it. And if you're somewhat like me, just be patient. I thought the game was not for me, but it has made its way on my favourites shelf after all.
