If you are here to smash anime AI girls, you should probably actually look at what the game is offering. It's a series of escape rooms, not a smut machine. I mean if you get off on holding hands and hugging, it'll rock you, but it's more about managing the emotional state of a Yandere.

That aside, AI2U lacks a certain polish that a fully scripted escape room game has, but it's easy to get past if you have the right mindset when interacting with the AI. My main "pain points" when dealing with the girls came from tonal jumps when they are being serious then I pick something up and they suddenly are all cheery again, so I have to just treat them as socially awkward rather than a mindless drone.

If you have any hate towards AI or have explicit goals that aren't possible in this game, don't buy. Otherwise this is a yes.

9/10 early access
7/10 if it released today

- Great midgame
- Early game could use more variety
- End game needs more advanced machines to avoid repetitive optimization techniques
- Would be nice if floating machines didn't require a platform, work arounds feel bad
- A vertical lift to pair with chutes would be nice

Fantastic! I really love trying to create a little story with each card I make and seeing how they affect decisions. I don't know how they managed it, but every reading manages to create a definite feeling of excitement (though I imagine someone who's a little anxious about making decisions will find it a little more stressful).

Verdict: While I'm normally not this adamant about my opinions, this is a game everyone should buy if they are able. I am confident the themes and "political leanings" will make it a no for a fair amount of people, but I still think it's worth trying and refunding if it truly rubs you the wrong way. Unless you consume really surreal media every day, I think the story and lore of the world will make it worth your while.

Caveat: The writing reads a little childish. I think it could have benefited from editors or a more critical set of QA, though in reality, I don't think the story would be able to fill the role it does with too much editing so I'm torn on this point. It's not so pronounced that this point should deter anyone, it's just the only complaint I've had. Well, the mouse cursor is also too big, but you get used to it (or you're like me and obsessively position it relative to the backgrounds).

It would be nice if there was workshop support to improve decoration diversity, but otherwise it's a great game.

Buy if you enjoy base building and mild shopkeeping. Automation is a bit poor at the moment, but part of the charm is working around the jank!

Probably a skill issue, but I just couldn't make anything that looked even remotely good. I didn't spend too much time, but certain design decisions (or lack there of) made it too annoying to use. There should be fine controls over everything you place, re-coloration options, moving something after it's been placed, scaling objects, rotating the camera, and so on. I would cut it some slack if these were complicated features, but they really aren't. It hasn't been out for that long, so maybe these things will get added, but I'm not holding my breath. I should also mention one bug that, while techincally minor, is incredibly annoying, namely opening up the object picker and nothing being there. I would have to click in and out multiple times before I would be able to select anything and in a game where the entire premise is placing objects, being unable to select them is pretty major.

Also workshop support is a pretty obvious feature, but given the state the game is in, that's probably a pipe dream.

I'm generally not a big fan of roguelikes, so I'm not going to bother trying to compare it to others in the genre. All I can say is that I really enjoy it.

It's okay, but it's just a 3 hour walking simulator.

Locked frame rate and motion blur on seemingly all graphics settings made it hard to look at (low was okay, but textures and far away objects were pretty ugly). I blame unreal engine.

Story was fine, but I found the main character to be pretty unlikable. Her attitude was justified to some extent, but was still annoying to have to live with.

Some achievements are easily miss-able, so if you want full completion I would recommend using a guide throughout. The one I used was spoiler free, so it's not like you'll ruin the experience using one.

Linear "puzzle" platformer. Complete-able in ~1.5 hours, 3-4 if you want full completion. It played fine on keyboard for the most part, but one of the jumps in game+ pretty much required controller.

Verdict: Worth playing, not worth buying

I can't see this getting enough updates to be worth buying for more than 5 dollars. Even if they fixed all the bugs and polished what they do have, it's just not enough content.

This is not even acknowledging the fact that they just stole actual cars with just a basic name change (Honrda Viciv, really?). The game is an asset flip, with just enough to make it seem like a reasonable buy.

Very grindy if you like completion, but if you just play through the game, it's one of the best.
