I'm not a huge roguelike fan and I don't know how to play poker, yet here I am, almost 150 hours later, aiming for a higher completion rate than almost any other game I've played

I've been waiting 3 years since the announcement of this game.

And with only 3.5 hours in (so far), it was well worth the wait. If you've played previous Ace Combat titles, this game strikes all the right chords. The story so far has been engaging, the music phenomenal, and the gameplay nice and tight. The new mechanics - namely wind and clouds - change things up enough to be fun, but not frustrating. The aircraft tree is also a great new way to go about unlocking new planes, parts, and weapons, and feels like a massive improvement over the previous entries in the franchise.

If you have muscle memory from the PS2 days of which buttons do what, the game's options allow you to switch things around so that it feels the way you're used to (which is good, because I was accidentally expanding my map when I meant to change my weapon and vice versa).

Seeing that all of the reviews are complaints that the HOTAS stick doesn't work shouldn't be enough to scare you away from this game. Using an Xbox One gamepad has worked perfectly fine for me, and my brother, who uses a Switch Pro Controller, hasn't had any complaints about it either. I would recommend using a controller (haven't tried M+KB).

All things considered, yes, I would highly recommend the game.
