This game is near and dear to my heart being one of the first games I've ever played on PlayStation. Since then, it's gone through a PSP iteration, and now, to my disbelief, a PC release! I never thought the day would come for me to see my favorite game of all time remade a third time for PC of all things.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn is, first and foremost, a strategy RPG. You gather a group of units and form your army from scratch while playing through an epic tale of man vs morality. There are plenty of abilities, skills, spells, weapons, armor, and classes to choose from! Due to the chaotic nature of the game, no 2 runs will ever be alike. With the addition of some features, this further randomizes the gameplay and outcomes. In the end, it's the story and gameplay that really shine.

If you are a newcomer, I highly recommend this game for it's complex and multi-ended story. There are plenty of options for you to choose from, whether it be classes or weapons. Battles will challenge you, though some can be quite frustrating. It's the kind of game that will take time for you to learn and master. Luckily, the game includes a feature where you can rewind turns and replay them from that specific point. You will no doubt enjoy the twists and turns the story has to offer, along with its musical score.

At many points in the story, you will be given choices that will affect the outcome of your game. As you progress, you will find yourself wondering, "is this the right thing to do?" or "would I have done this?" It does a great job at making you question your judgement, as well as test your ideals, beliefs, and morality. Luckily, when you complete your first playthrough, you will have the option to return to specific points in the story. That way, you are able to experience all the branching routes and learn their outcomes.

For those who have played the other 2 versions, this game is worth it if you are looking for another fresh take on the game. To me, it seems to take a lot of the best features of the SNES/PS and PSP versions. They did, however, decide to introduce a few changes that left me scratching my head - most notably, the buff card system. They removed the Rogue class for the players and also reduced skill slots. Spells have been limited to 4 per unit, similar to the original. On top of that, you can no longer mix and match classes like you could in the PSP version or in Final Fantasy Tactics where you could learn a skill from one class and equip it on another.

Regardless, Reborn is fresh breath of air with voice acting (a mix of great and not-so-great voices imo), improved quality of life features (looking at you, crafting), and a phenomenal instrumental track. Training has been reintroduced, and characters now level up individually with level caps according to where you are in the story. Classes can be changed on the fly using classmarks with weapon skills carrying over from one to the next if the class supports it. Spells and abilities have also been redone, simplifying and streamlining the gameplay to let you focus on the battle.

Overall, it's a very solid tactical strategy RPG that sticks to its roots and focuses on what matters - the score, the gameplay, and the story.

Yeah you know when you go to the Store page, you usually see who of your friends owns and who Wishlisted the game you look at. And you don't appear there. Nor do you appear when I look in my Library at Tactics Ogre. Which is lol.

Oh wow that's odd. I do have the steam deck and I have opened it up on there to play offline once. When I came back to my home network, it uploaded and synced. Not sure why it shows that I don't own it lol. Maybe cuz I preordered it non-steam and redeemed a key?

Steam is funny sometimes. It doesn't show me on the store page that you own Tactics Ogre Reborn, only by checking your profile I see you own it. Checking the game in my Library I see two other friends having "recently played" stats but not you. Going to your steam profile page it shows 0 minutes played yet you have 20 Achievements. If you play it on the Steam Deck you should still clock time played or not? :nkDaze:
