Early Access Review
I don't have a really good explanation for why I love this game and have given it so very many hours.

I, in general, do not enjoy base building in games. As I've often said "If I wanted to play the damn Sims, I'd go do that, Bethesda." And, no, I never want to play The Sims. It is a distraction from the game I want to play, a bolt on that I resent if you make interaction required with it. If I have anything nice to say about Starfield it's that my most despised and least functional game mechanic part, outpost building, at least wasn't mandatory.

A friend bought me Factorio. I bounced off it hard. I've already played Cookie Clicker and that was more fun.

But Satisfactory is giving me drive to complete things, to grow the base to complete more, to explore to find more resources and more of the world to despoil for THE GLORY OF THE COMPANY. There is humor here, it is dry, subtle satire of resource extraction. I've lost count of the number of times I've cackled laughing at the ridiculousness of what I've done to this poor planet. Friends and I have started calling it British Empire Simulator.

I can't really say why Satisfactory is working for me when so much else in this general game space has failed. If I had a way to teach Steam's algorithm that, it would be very good.
