Story is fine, liked parallel between Sylas\Morgana and Actual Final Boss\Kayle.
But I just don't believe it is 30eur game. This is 11 hours game for 30 Eur, with a few cosmetic DLC which also are not cheap.

In 11 hours completed full story on Normal and have 51/53 achievements.
Only missing collect all Silverwings, which would give last one get all achievements.
I assume papers\books are optional.

God bless Demacians for building Hooks all around the city for Syles to navigate, and also placing those hooks in mountains, forests, swamps, without them he would be stuck.
Really liked Ruined King game, but this game, for this price, is not something I would recommend, for 15eur, maybe. It is was so repetitive that I could not wait for this to end.

pros
  • You can pet a dog
  • Somewhat accurate Lore of League of Legends

cons
  • Very repetitive battles
  • New challenge is usually same enemies, plus healing towers or healing mages, final level is two healing mages with healing towers with enemies teleporting...
  • In the end it usually became bullet hell
  • Repetitive bosses, you need to fight Giant's Helm boss 2-3 times, and in the end you fight the same boss but there are two of them, at same time.... "Fun"
  • You need to fight boss, not really a boss level, but it still appears as boss Silverwing and his rider twice, almost three times, if not for yordle.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly after completing game in 28 hours:
I am coming to this game after getting tired of games and pretty much dropping gaming overall for a year.
Before this game I played Chained Echoes, which I still hope to complete one day, but dropped it as there was too much things going on at the same time.
Before that I played Arietta of Spirits , which felt like too short and a bit too simplistic, but dont get me wrong, liked both of them.

Sea of Stars slots between those two games and feels like mashup of multi-generational games that were released in the past two decades, that borrows multiple ideas from them and amplifies pixel graphics and lighting it uses.

However game in second chapter just goes downhill for me. It is great game if you play it in short bursts, 1-2 hours max.
After completing game and unlocking New Game+ I might return to it next year, but after tiresome second chapter, that is it for now.

The Good
  • Pixel graphics and lighting - is one of the best I have seen
  • Music - while there is not too much variation for music, the one that is included is amazing
  • Story is not something ground breaking, but has enough plot twist to keep it entertaining
  • Puzzles are GBA pokemon level complexity, they do make you think, but are not too complicated
  • Most of Bosses visually looked very unique

The Bad
  • Repetitive combat and animations
  • No Voice Over, which may or may not have made things better
  • Not very balanced boss encounters - in whole game died twice, which I think indicates game is too easy. But when previous boss is WAY harder than next 3 it feels a bit off.
  • Limited equipment which does not change how your character look
  • TurnBased combat which requires timed input - this is the part which I hated the most. In some devs video they indicated that is optional, but the more you played the more it felt it was mandatory to not trigger boss skill attack.
  • Relics - still unsure if those are modifier or things you must use. Some are overpowered, other are for memes.

    The Ugly
  • Traveling around the world is a bit clunky if you need to go to specific area
  • While surrounding are made to look as interesting as possible, it also kinda breaks immersion. You cannot walk directly in some cases because need to jump though missing path, in the middle of fully functional castle or city. Same applies to grappling hook.
  • Second chapter\map felt that it was made to drag the total game time. Enemies which only purpose it to cast shield spell so you need to hit them 4-5 times until you can start actually damaging them.
  • Second chapter Boss I have tons of HP and constantly will make 1 from 3 your team in crystal then kill it so it drags even more
  • Second chapter Boss encounter which pretty much just makes two clones of him self, felt a bit cheap.
  • Second chapter often felt very monotonic, and I am not talking about color, but overall map, flying base.

    The Neutral:
  • Not sure how I feel about clash of this fantasy vs Sci-Fi cyborgs. (story about them is cool)
  • Story does not feel finished. Unsure if we get DLC or part 2, but boss battle is not done, nor his friend story is fully explained on what he is doing.
  • At some point you get item which allows to breath underwater, but you team must stick close, yet this rule is broken very often, when team mate just flyies outside of that during some big move

    OST to check:
  • Original: Sea Of Stars - Eternal Bonds of The Warrior Cook
  • BadHairlineProductions: Sea of Stars /// Garl's Theme - Dance of 1,000 Suns (Extended) [Groovy Guitar]
  • BadHairlineProductions: Sea of Stars /// Battle On! (Extended) [Rock Version]
  • BadHairlineProductions:Sea of Stars /// Encounter! (Extended) [Groovy Guitar]

If you want a simple game, which is not overloaded in both twists and mechanics of game, you might give it a try. Reminds GBA The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap in some ways. Takes 4 hours to complete.

If you are into League of Legends lore, then you might give it a try. It is interesting to see interactions between characters and some extra lore. It is quite easy turn based RPG, maybe even too easy. 30 hours to complete story with some extra exploring and reading of notes.

Best 5 Eur spent in a while.
Bike scene was awesome, while different compared to original game, it brought same wibes.
It does fall short at the end, when you get less and less fighting, but overall, good game.
Especially if you can get it on sale for just 5 Eur.
Would not pay 20 Eur for it, but when it is on sale, worth it.

Good meme collection, while it does look like Flash game it does not matter, as it is quite funny to play.
No stress, no game overs, just relaxing gameplay.
