Early Access Review
After playing this game for only 2 hours at time of writing, I can say this game is definitely a super fun time, and worthy of buying (or at least keeping an eye on it.)

This game is a literal playground for coming up with creative ways to kill zombies, and honestly I find that gameplay loop to be nearly perfect already. The only thing holding it back are some zombie pathfinding / animation issues that make then a little unpredictable.

If you like taping TVs to Hammers and delivering massive bonks, this game is for you.

I only hope future updates clean up some issues, and expand on an already incredibly fun game!

This game is incredibly good, and increidbly hard. The game controls smoothly, the mechanics are unique and outstanding, but sometimes it's so hard to get your stupid fingers to do what they need to do. This game isn't for the faint of heart, but I absolutely recomend it to anyone looking for a fun challenge.

This game will make you feel like a pro in no time, and then it will strip that away frm you on the next heartbreaking level.

Literally a perfect game. Oxenfree defines itself with it's incredible story-telling, it's natural dialouge, and it's many twists and turns on a path that will eventually leave you sobbing at your computer desk. The game is expertly created, and everything from the music and sounds, to the little things like the size and shape of the different walking paths all add up to make this into an incredible experience.

I keep running through it over and over in my head, trying to figure out if there's a single part of the game that distracted from the experience or made the game worse, but I can't find a single instance. If you can wrap yourself into the story of the game (something not very hard to do) You'll find yourself not wanting to stop until it's over.

In fact, the game isn't that long of a play. My playthrough was almost 4 hours, which in a lot of games does not feel like a long time. This honestly works in the games favor, as a full an detailed story can take place without any part of it feeling like it was just for the sake of lengthening the "runtime" so to speak. Ever second of the game is involved and important, and the time it takes to play the games lends itself to replayability, and accessibilty to people who think story games take to long already. Honestly I was worried the game would be too long for me to play it in one sitting, but I was very happy to find that was not the case.

The dialouge of the game was incredible. Not only did it feel realistic, and easy to follow along with, but it prompted all of the right emotions from the player. At the beginning the dialouge is between friends, with jokes, and small arguments, and the player is often allowed a chance to speak up and take part, but also has the right to say nothing. Each of the options you have as a player feel unique, and they do have an effect on the game, but at the same time the game doesn't let you purposefully break it by choosing an answer just for that reason. There was never a time I felt I was unable to select a dialouge option that didn't fit me (even if I had felt that way, I could choose not to say anything at all.)

The music and visuals were great. The soundtrack is phenominal, and is perfectly in tune with the games story and feeling (mind the pun.) Not once throughout the game did the soundtrack distract from the experience and constantly throughout it provided essential emotional context to the scene. Perhaps the best thing about the soundtrack was that it wasn't ridiculously loud like many games tend to be nowadays. However no game is complete without perfect visuals too. Oxenfrees visuals felt perfect, as they were able to portray beautiful scenery, as well as be just vague enough to allow for exploration. It felt like throughout the game I was moving throughout a portrait, with so many incredibly beautiful landscapes, as well as plenty of fine detail along the paths.

I could go on and on about how incredible this game is, but it is worth noting that no game is defined only by each individual part examined alone. I mention all of these things - the dialouge, the visuals, and the soundtrack - because these are what pull the player in and make you never want to stop. In truth, the game is much more than the sinple sum of it's parts. It is so much more than can ever be explained through it's pieces, because it is an experience.

This is one of the greatest games I have ever had the fortune of playing.

This game isn't even a dating sim. It's not some joke game about screwing birds. It's not even a parody of dating sims.

This game actually just has the best story in a game since To The Moon. At a first glance it's just a joke of a game, but the simplistic outlines lures you into getting to know the characters. Then once you've begun to understand them, sudenly this option shows up that wasn't there before.

Next thing you know you're thrown into a heart wrenching story about the conflict of this crazy world the game takes place in. You learn more about how these characters backstories were intertwined, and it helps you determine the fate of humanity to come.

Don't take this as some sarcastic review making a big deal out of some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. This is an honest review about a game that I honestly love.
