What is HuniePop 2: Double Date?
HuniePop 2: Double Date is the sequel to the 2015 game Huniepop. If you're not familiar with Huniepop, it is a match 3 style game similar to the likes of Bejewled or Candy Crush Saga, however, HuniePop is also part dating-sim. If you have not played HuniePop 1 and are looking to get this game, I strongly recommend you play that first before you get this one. Not only will you get more familiar with the "lore" but you will also learn a large portion of the game mechanics that will carry over into this game. But if you've already played HuniePop 1 and are looking to buy this game, keep reading this review. I'm going to split this review into two different aspects: the gameplay aspect and the dating-sim/lore aspect.

Gameplay
HuniePop 2 does something much different compared to HuniePop 1, instead of going on dates with a single girl, you go on dates with two girls at once, hence the moniker "Double Date". This adds another much more depth to the gameplay compared to HuniePop 1. When getting started on a date in Huniepop 2, your dates will be on the sides of the grid where all the tokens are located and you can switch between each date by right-clicking on your mouse, you will have to switch between the girls during dates, you cannot complete a date using only one girl. Each girl has specific types of tokens she likes and dislikes so you will have to keep switching between each girl to ensure you're getting the best token combos to pass the date. Matching passion tokens increases your score multiplier so future token matches will grant you more score the higher your passion is. As with the first game, start off with a set amount of moves and you need to reach the score goal with the moves you're given. You can gain more moves by matching bell tokens and you can still use date gifts given you have enough sentiment, same as the first game. But that's where similarities with HuniePop 1 end, now I want to go over new additions and changes to the gameplay in HuniePop 2. Below is a list of all the new gameplay mechanics present in HuniePop 2 and I will be going over how each one affects gameplay.

  • Stamina
  • Baggage
  • Two sets of date gifts

Stamina
Stamina is one of the more controversial additions to the game in terms of gameplay mechanics. During every date, each girl will have a stamina meter. This stamina meter drains when you make moves and if it reaches zero, the girl you made the move with will be exhausted, you will automatically switch to the other girl while the girl with the empty stamina will take a few turns to recover her stamina. If one girl is exhausted and you switch to the other one and also make her exhausted while the first one hasn't recovered her stamina yet, you fail the date. Stamina management during dates is very important if you want to succeed. There are certain date gifts you can give to the girls to restore their stamina as well as matching stamina tokens, which will also restore their stamina. Now the reason why the stamina mechanic is so controversial is because it punishes you for succeeding at the game. If you make a four-of-a-kind or even five-of-a-kind match, it will take away more stamina compared to making the regular three-of-a-kind match. While this does make you really think about what tokens you want to match, I feel like the stamina system needs a few tweaks and balancing to not punish players when they get big matches on the grid.

Baggage
Baggage really shakes up show you approach each date because it can fundamentally change how you play the game. Baggage can be viewed as a gameplay modifier and each girl has three different baggages. You learn new baggages about each girl when you choose to talk to them before a date. Some examples of baggage are reversing how broken hearts and regular passion tokens function, matching bell tokens taking away moves instead of adding them, having a chance of not regaining stamina, and much more. Depending on the difficulty you choose when you start the game, baggage can either have a mild or huge impact on how you play. Playing on easy mode will not give you an baggages so you don't have to worry about them, normal mode will only present you with one out of the three baggages for each girl, and playing on hard will present you with all three baggages for each girl during a date. Baggages can sometimes be a blessing and at other times they can be the worst thing ever, one girl's baggage might even have synergy with another girl's baggage. Overall, I like the addition of the baggage system to HuniePop 2, it makes the game much more engaging to play but be careful if you're playing on hard difficulty, having to worry about six baggages during each date can be really infuriating but also very rewarding if you manage to get through the date.

Two Sets of Date Gifts
This mechanic isn't new per se but there are a few changes to how it functions in HuniePop 2 compared to HuniePop 1. Each girl has four slots for date gifts, you start off with one but you unlock more as you talk with the girls before the date. Date gifts can be purchased in the shop using a special currency you earn when you complete a date called fruit, this is a replacement for Munie as seen in the first game. These date gifts have similar functions to those seen in HuniePop 1 but now you can have up to eight date gifts during a single date since each girl can have up to four date gifts. To use a date gift, you have to get matches with sentiment tokens on the grid, doing so will allow you to use date gifts, however, date gifts cost different amounts of sentiment depending on their effect. Also, collecting sentiment will only apply it to the girl you took the move with, so for example, if you collect six sentiment with one girl and then switch to the other girl, you will not be able to use that girl's date gifts since the sentiment went to the first girl. The date gift system in HuniePop 2 is definitely an improvement compared to it's predecessor because it has a much bigger role in the gameplay, especially on higher difficulties.

Dating Sim and Lore
HuniePop 2 continues to the story from HuniePop 1. You have the choice of choosing to play a male or female character but this only affects what pronouns the girls use during dialog and a few minor differences in the NSFW image you get after a successful date. At the start of the game Kyu gives you the task of stopping the Nymphojinn, which are basically two space hookers that will destroy the world if you don't stop them. To face off against the Nymphojinn, you need to collect 24 fairy wings by going to an island resort and finishing dates. Since there are so much more dates you need to go on with each pair of girls, the dating-sim aspect of HuniePop 2 is definitely weaker compared to HuniePop 1. In Huniepop 1, you had to go on 4 regular dates before you got to the NSFW date but in HuniePop 2, you only have to go on one regular date and then the next date will be the NSFW date. This means that you have fewer overall interactions with each girl but you can still talk to them to learn more information about them as well as unlock more things to use during the date such as extra moves, baggage, and more gift slots. When objectively looking at the dating-sim aspect of HuniePop, the first game does it better but the second game also does a great job given how much differently it plays compared to the first.

Final Verdict
Overall, I really liked Huniepop 2, it adds a lot more to the core gameplay loop and the story is a great continuation to that from the first game. If you enjoyed HuniePop1, I would definitely recommend that you play this game because you'll probably have a good time with this one too.

CS:GO Review
I was playing this game on an airplane on my laptop. I accidentally hit the unmute button and my speakers were at full volume. The announcer then says "Bomb has been planted" after a terrorist plants the bomb in-game. I then got forcefully arrested by an FBI agent disguised as a passenger.

10/10 would get forcefully arrested for no reason again.

Team Fortress 2 is a peice of great game development .

I mean whenever I join a server, I always get complemented by my team for playing Medic, it's kind of ridiculous, you got these 7 Snipers getting dominated by all the enemy Spies and I always get rekt by the enemy Heavy because I can't deploy my magical medigun charge on anyone.

Now you might be wondering about all the unusual "cosmetics" in this amazing game, now let me tell you something, those "cosmetics" are the absolute piles of amazingness and are definitely worth your hard earned money.

The dialouge in this game is pure legend and you should not be exposed to it for more than 24 hours a day or else you will get overwhelmed by it's awsomeness . I mean all that "buildin a sentry" and "need a dispenser here" is strangely annoying when spammed over and over again.

Overall I'll give this game 11/10 non-existent bonus ducks. Awful ly good

Search an ancient tomb, find an upgrade for your machine gun.

11/10: Makes perfect sense considering all ancient tombs have weapon upgrades insted of ancient artifacts.

Get chased by a horde of zombies, jump in a house through the window, zombies can't jump through windows, use katana to kill zombies. 11/10 most realistic non jumping zombie simulator ever!
