Many great reviews for this game so from me only a short something:

Bought this game for the first time in April 2012 on Desura (gave me a steam key later), then for my wife, a friend, for myself again on GOG. I'm very bad at it but to me it is the best Zombie apocalypse survival game, only rivaled by CDDA if I need a less stressful experience, because that one is a rogue-like, so turn-based.

Project Zomboid is deep, somewhat realistic, gives lots of options to tailor the game mechanics to my preferences, mod-able in many ways …

Bought it on 2015-01-15. Twice. The second license for the wife.

Only 18 days later Sony Online Entertainment sold the developer studio which was renamed Daybreak Game Company. I feared I was being scammed by SOE but hoped for the best.

Then the game was split in two because the Battle Royale mode was so popular. Yeah, if the development of the game we paid for stalled, when the servers where laggy and the zombies bugged out so much they had to be removed almost completely from the game, we tried to play at least something we paid for.

There were news about how sorry the developers were about focussing on King of the Kill and how five guys or what have you were so busy working on the real game.

I lost interest.

Only by accident I stumbled upon more news about this game that is nothing like the product that was promised 31 months ago.
"If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development." I wish it was like it was 30 months ago.

Oh, I see they dropped the H1Z1 part of the title. Infestation: Survivor Stories formerly known as The WarZ, anyone?

Don't buy.

I don't want a refund. I just let it sit there. Installed. Popping up in the "updated games list" now and then. Reminding me to not pay on day one for early access and think twice about buying something branded SONY in the future.

This game doesn't feel right. The Story—North Koreans sucessfully invade and occupy the US of A—could be a wonderful setup for an excellent B-Movie style plot but personally I don't care much about any of the characters. At least the pilot guy I'm playing. The NPCs (the Goliath drone, too) just stand in the way, slow me down, won't let me open any door by myself and block the frame after kicking down the door, and so on and so on…

What I like:
• The graphics—not top notch anymore and probably never were, but the game looks cohesive in a good way;
• Beeing able to stand, crouch and prone is good—switching between crouching and standing is good for getting in and out of cover fast, and to prone helped me in some tough scenes;
• The setup of the story.

What I do not like:
• Guys, girls and drones standing in the way, blocking my view and blocking my way;
• Doors magically closing behind me;
• The weapons' sounds;
• Somehow I feel small in this game. The POV is like everyone is at least one head taller than "me".
• The story.

I've read the multiplayer-part of this game is decent, but beeing almost a pure single player I can't judge. For SPs like me I can not recommend this game.
