X and Zero feel great to control. Combining powers and all the augments is really fun. Co-Op is a blast when it's not desyncing or full-stop disconnecting. Wish there was some leniency with that allowed friends to rejoin cause we've had good runs that were thrown away cause the connection dropped. Also, the Sigma levels have some poop level design and so far, I've only been able to complete a run because of that one item that skips bosses.

If you manage to get Hoot's Hourglass, Time Anchor, and Chronopointer... be prepared for some wackiness when you get to Hoot Omega's stage that isn't explained anywhere. I'm honestly impressed with myself that I even got these items together that barely seem related. When you finally get to the boss of that stage, whatever is happening doesn't get explained either so look it up, I guess.

Looking forward to the patches that iron out bugs cause I do enjoy playing the game overall. It fills a void in my heart that Capcom left.

Slay the Spire meets Boss Monster.

I'm playing this after they released the Friends & Foes update (for free) and there's so much content that I barely have scratched the surface of.

There's so much variety in deck building with the different clans. This is also minor but I like how beating a run gives the cards you used in that run a fancy border because you "mastered" them. This encourages you to use different cards in subsequent runs to master them all.

The music is also pretty good! I've been finding myself still hearing it in my head, long after I stopped playing.

The balance of gradually strengthening your deck is probably not as finely tuned as Slay the Spire but it's still a very fun game!

This game is worth it for the Steam Workshop alone.

The pixel art and character designs are fantastic but that doesn't save the gameplay from feeling fundamentally flawed. The enemy AI on normal feels overwhelmingly aggressive to the point where you can get easily swarmed and stunlocked without many options for crowd control to counteract it. This is especially problematic early on because you need to unlock moves like a back attack by leveling. Blocking/Parrying also feels useless when there's just so many enemies stacked on top of you and it blocks only one direction and your guard gets broken by certain enemy attacks anyway.

When the game released, the button to go through doors or to the next area was the same button as your basic attack. As you can imagine, if you're fighting anyone near a door, you just leave the area. They eventually patched the game to change the input to be a hold input... instead of simply making it a different button so now you have to wait while getting beat up before you can leave the area. It's like no one play tested the game.

I'd recommend playing Streets of Rage 4 instead because it's a lot more apparent the developers reevaluated what worked and what didn't in the original games and finely tuned the balance and difficulty.
