solitaire offers 3 endless card games in four possible locations (nothing fantasy-themed), but it's not something to recommend even on sale due to serious technical issues.

spider starts at 500 points, every move takes away 1 point and the goal is to arrange everything in as few moves as possible, from king to ace in a matching suit. only same-suit sections can be moved together and 3 difficulty options are available, with one, two or all four suits present. deal more cards to every column from the deck if you run out of moves, and you can also use hints for 10 points each. no undo in this game type.

klondike is what typically ships with windows. get rid of all the cards, but colors have to alternate (red four, black three, red two, etc.) and you can have 1 or 3 cards dealt at a time. hints are available, there's undo, as well as an insta-finish button when everything's arranged to cut down on clicking. it's not as fancy as cards bumping around in the windows version though.

freecell has 4 slots (or free cells) in the top left where you can temporarily put a single card to make your life easier, and the goal once again is to remove every card from the table. cards have to alternate colors in this one too, and undo is available.

so far so good, the rules are explained in-game (with typos here and there), separate leaderboards for every game mode, graphics are fine, music too, though I'm not one for jazz, so turned it off pretty fast. what's wrong with it then?

no volume settings for one, which isn't a dealbreaker, just lazy, but every single option and setting involves a loading screen. click options, loading screen, click card background, loading screen, select card background, press ok, loading screen, back to menu, loading screen, start new game, loading screen, no more moves, restart, loading screen. windowed mode and resolutions are available, but multiple loading screens to go through to change them. it's ridiculous.

another annoyance is the too thick highlight around the active card, it can cover numbers in the corners (you should be familiar with the cards, but still), and if you switch to bigger numbers, other cards cover half of said numbers, which is just as bad.

the biggest issue is broken mouse controls in freecell. once you have a few too many cards in a column, the cursor starts acting weird, picking up cards a row or two away, making it very hard to click what you want. keys still work (arrows and enter), but who plays solitaire with the keyboard? restarting the level also fixes it, but then you lose progress on the current one, obviously.

if they ever bothered to fix these issues, it would be something to pick up with a hefty discount, as the base price is way too high for what the game has to offer, but as it is, don't bother. I grabbed it when it was 90% off and still don't think it was a good deal.

I definitely won't bother with this one... :D I remember playing a lot of solitaire when it was just freely packaged with Windows. There's just a lot of options out there and having QoL issues in such a simple game means that it was probably hastily put together to turn a profit and then never revisited again.

I seem to remember having similar issues with bugs on this game. It needs updating but I think it has been abandoned. :sadrandy:
