I used to love Heroes of Might & Magic. Then I got fat and old, and the lard that accumelated around my brain matter made me too obese and dull to be able to do tactical combat Fortunately Hero's Hour came along and let my modern media damaged brain enjoy a version of the best part of my youth while my mental faculties are declining

1400 hours. I probably think highly of this game.

This game has a lot of potential. It has an enjoyable game play loop. I love the setting, the sea shanties and it is the kind of game that I love playing. After having finished the main campaign I am looking forward to the DLC that should release in a few months that will add some replayability.

I do however have to complaints that did sour my experience somewhat. The first one isn't the biggest problem, but the second makes the ending a bit unsatisfying.

1. You never develop a relationship with your crew, because it is relatively easy to get to a point where you can pick and choose from top tier crew. This is compounded by the fact that you have to dismiss crew members if they do not possess the correct skills to level your ship. This system doesn't really add any enjoyable game play - all it does is to force you to make worse choices and to cheese your way through the upgrade process. Unlike FTL, a similar game, your crew is a lot more disposable because of this. Especially since new crew is not a scarce resource.

2. My other complaint is the final boss. It relies on one of your 9 characters rolling one of six skills before an unkillable boss kills you. This is 1/6 for every round, and the boss kills 1/3 of your crew in two rounds easily. Compounded by the fact that this 1/6 skill roll can be resisted by the boss makes the last fight almost completely random. I had tries where I rolled the correct roll in the first round, and I had fights where I never got the roll once. It is a shame that a game I enjoyed so much had such a unsatisfying last fight.

Overall, I had a great time, and I feel minor tweaks that could be done to the upgrade/crew system and the final boss fight would have made this an unconditional recommendation from me.

Perfect implementation of the game in VR, like always with Croteam. I've previously completed the flat screen version of Talos, and along with Portal it is at the top of my list for puzzle games with a great narrative. Fortunataly I've found that I've forgotten the solution to a lot of the puzzles so I'm really looking forward to this second more interactive (and physically active) playthrough.

If you like open world games in the style of Shadow of Mordor, Batman and Far Cry, you'll love this game. It does feature most of the same mechanics as all those games (in addition to crazy vehicle combat), but improves on most of these systems. The world is expertly crafted, extremely large and features bases that individually have more flavor and design to them than any similar games. You'll probably never get the "yet another outpost"-feeling that you could with the FC-series, because every outpost is truely unique.

Make no mistake, this game will probably not appeal to people who are not fans of the genre or have grown tired of open world games (which can explain why the press were luke-warm in their reviews), but for people who like these style of games it is probably the best one out there.

Probably the best multiplayer game I've played this year. Takes skill, luck and the ability to control yourself while being tempted to laugh your ass of while consentrating.

Played through the first episode. The writing is alot better than anything I ever saw in the original Borderlands games. It's also interesting to interact with the crazy Pandora setting in another way than simply pointing a gun at everything that moves. It's a genuinly funny game, and with all the crazyness that goes on, it did a far better job at keeping my attention than something like The Walking Dead.
