The game that had so much potential, but Devs decided to abandon it only a year after release because there wasnt enough players. It's a great BR with tons of different mechanics that set it apart from others. Just wish they would continue development and do a big marketing push with streamers and YouTubers.

Edit: Surprisingly, Sony has decided to revert the sign in requirement. Seeing as how that was the only issue, I've changed my review back to recommended.

As many in the past, HD2 will die off due to corporate greed. A decent game that I didn't play as much as I wanted to. Just as I'm coming up on a long extended weekend where I can dedicate some time to it, here comes Sony forcing all players to have a PSN account in order to play. A scummy move that has been done before and we bared with it. That's probably why Sony thought they could do it this time. Nope, we are catching on and we won't be taking it anymore. Those who do not have access to PSN in their country can no longer play. PSN is not a step up in security, in fact it makes players more likely to being hacked. Sony just wants more people on their network to boost numbers and sell data. Request a refund, even if it's denied, do it anyway on basis of the developer blocking access to the game unless a new third party login is established outside of Steam. There are other developers that are not trapped by corporate greed that deserve your money.

If you're a new player, you must finish your first play through by ringing the bell at the company numerous times. You get a bonus on your first paycheck and the Boss even comes down to congratulate you personally.

Unless you have a high end PC, expect low FPS, stuttering, unresponsive commands, and your occasional crash. Not in a playable state at this time for most average PC players and the fact it's $45 in this state is not a good sign.

If you aren't trying to kill everyone with a rocket launcher, are you really playing the game right?

Single player is kind of boring. Multiplayer is where you have all the fun. Wish there were more side quests or other things to do once you reach the end of the story.

Rust can be summed up by an analogy comparing it to a day at the beach.

Vast majority of people there are with friends, just minding their own business, relaxing. A few select people take enjoyment out of building sand castles, digging big holes, and just having a good time. Then you have the 10 year old autistic kid running up and down the beach screaming. When you're at your sand castle, the kid doesn't dare come near you. But the second you head to the water to wash up, the little ♥♥♥♥ comes running in screaming, kicking down your sand castle, only to run away like a little prick back to mommy and avoid repercussion. And if you confront the mom, you're met with a group of harpies screeching at you, trying to pick a verbal fight, that will inevitably attract the attention of a cop standing on the shore.

It's not the normal people you focus your attention on, its that one little ♥♥♥♥ that ruined your day that sits in your memory. The vast majority of us see role players and think "Oh that's awesome!" The way you would look at a sand castle. You keep building in the sand, eventually that obnoxious kids mom will take him home. Or you could camp his house, pipe him in the face, teabag his mom, and claim ultimate victory.

If you like old school command & conquer, you will like this game. While it's still a work in progress, the dev is doing updates on a near monthly basis. You can even play it on your mobile instead of PC, albeit you will have to purchase it again at a smaller price tag. Soon to be added custom maps and mods through steam workshop will be a big plus as well. This game needs a bigger community to get the game better. Join in and help this game grow.

Very fast paced gameplay. Bullet time would be a nice addition, possibly as a separate game mode. However I'd take co-op gameplay over anything.

Take Two decided it would be a good idea to shut down Open IV because they didn't get enough money from releasing the game twice at $60 and all of the micro transactions they get. Sucks because GTA is a good series and I wanted to keep playing it, but I cannot in good conscious support a company that would stoop to such low levels just to make more money on top of their already mountain of cash.

Don't buy this game, they do not deserve your hard earned money.
