First positive Cyb77 review I did since 2020

I uninstalled over 200 mods to test the 2.0 update since its free of charge, and the game is on a discount. I thought a fourth time would help clear things for those in need. Yes I hate what they did to us, but I'm rational, I have no bias so I admit it if its better.

While some mods did MUCH better, only a company has the proper tech for bigger features. I believe that's the right way anyway. For the newcomers, this is your chance to come see. If you're veteran, then think what's the best angle for you.

THE GOOD FIXES

The fixing they did lies between decent rethink and reconstruction, which is a noble thing, but with awful make-shifts everywhere, some other crucial stuff were simply ignored, which is crazy. The result is a decent fix that rendering a better game, but phony and wasted at times.

Believe it on not, even after major fixes, relic malfunction glitch still happened. Had to download "Glitch, Be Gone" mod on Nexus to fix it.

Still not the dream they fooled us with, but better this way than the highway I guess.

1) Driving mechanics

Decent sounds and physics, one of the best so far. The outdated driving wasn't just "fixed" it has been overhauled. Attention to detail finally made cars better, including sounds. They finally added a logical camera to look behind when in first person, it is just pleasant to drive now. Shooting from inside the car is actually easy to do and VERY essential, except for VERY ANNOYING auto-center. Also, pedestrians won't overreact to every little move you do with car anymore. Bikes however, could have had it better.

2) Police is actually policing

It is not the ones they promised, taking bribes and sheat, but when there is police they no longer teleport. They pursue you now, either on foot or in car and this helps with overall gameplay. They may or not show up on streets during missions, possibility of chaos in a beautiful 1980 ultra-violence. I tested it myself and even Max-tac shows up.

Look at me, all happy with something that should have been with the game from day one. Life sucks.

3) Firing is more RPG and less COD

Even stamina goes down when firing, loses or stacks critical chances, accuracy, player movement is tunned from whimp, to cyber-warrior. The AI is finally decent and poses a good intense fighting, sometimes they even move and plan. I still could see a bug or two when AI is farting too much, but no big deal.

4) Cyberware core systems overhauled

Buckle up, this will take a word.

Perks and advantages for gameplay and control, now feel more logical and functional to learn and to use them. Once you implant some, there will be upgrades to be done after using that implant, given you find or buy the items with the associated tier - Upgrading before considering changing it is more organic now. Both implants and perks can now work independently of each other. There will be penalties of course, but some won't. You gotta mind the Edgerunner limitations, to slowly adapt. Edited 2025 there is no cyberpsychosis, but there is a thing called "fury" (one of the symptoms). It is much better to evolve an implant wherever class you want, because the path that connects with the next perk acts nice. There is no denial, it is way better than before.

Sadly, only the NPCs gets all these sexy implants. V implants still looks boring. Not much attention to details when you put new cyberware still, (the anesthesia scar STILL won't disappear). I never needed a single mod to play Witcher 3, but for Cyb77, we'd still need mods over hundreds.

5) Graphics are great. Too great.

Immersion has been magnified at least 10 times more, if that's even possible. Graphics got seriously pumped. But it all sounds shady in my opinion, like an easier way to get people to play it instead of fixing more core features. If you don't have the rig, it still looks good. It only took them 3 years to add details to basics every game has, like shattering glasses. Yay.

- They added curious choices for main quest events that I don't remember seeing before.

- You can buy some cars by browsing internet, no more spamming messages.

- Cellphone messages is more immersive with easy access instead of game's menu.

- The weapons can evolve their tiers now, not exactly confusing anymore.

- World feels a bit more alive with randoms, such as blocking or perpetual gang wars.

- Pedestrian still walks around as dumb as they can, but at least they won't panic too much or disappear or turn into potatoes anymore.

- Massive horrible bugs are gone, while other lesser ones still lives.

- I managed to catch TV shows this time but they're still badly synced.

- They eased the annoying ads (tv, outdoors, etc) a little bit.

THE BAD LEFT-OVERS

Everytime they add something new trying to fix things, they forget something else and it shows. Example; added car radio to play on foot = they forgot to give you the option to not play when on foot. There will be odd things everywhere, like if you don't talk to specific NPCs to activate a quest, the quest will activate anyways. Like with that boxer coach. These weird things are the product of low attention decisions.

1) I don't like CDPR authoritarian delusions over the internet. As if they could control it by deleting and black listing.

2) Lesser technical debts still lives.

- Believe me or not, but "relic malfunction" glitch may still happen after Clouds quest.

- For 3 years straight, a bug may prevent music from playing, or footsteps from popping up.

- Also, volume still is a mess. Music action or radio music sometimes are too low or too loud.

- Lots of graphical options, but for gameplay there is no option to turn off auto-center when driving.

- Stuff like "wardrobe" still exists, regardless if clothes stats were mostly removed.

- If you're sneaking and attempt to hack a terminal, you can still be spotted due a 3 years old stand-up glitch.

3) Clothes are mostly FUGLY and useless after mods and armor removal.

But they never rearranged the names. The "sturdy jacket" and "bulky pants" will still be colored and named as if they still matter. A few visor or something else may sometimes give you passive stats, like zoom or a piece of armor. The clothes for V still are mostly ugly, your only solution still is player based made mods from the Nexus.

4) No NPCs to recruit or roam around

Despise our pleas, they refused to let secondary NPCs to follow you, given they're active outside scripted quests, making this the first major RPG without companions. You're still a one-man army to explore, what a WASTE of incredible NPCs.

5) Scripted quests still masks the open world

A waste of good immersion. The lifepaths still are generic and least impactful, same intro video and short prelude. All this time and only one new mini-game was added "Trauma Drama" but at least its fun. The other mini-games are still only for show. How modders managed to do mini-games and rich devs didn't is beyond me.

6) World still won't have enough side activities. No shooting range to test guns. Most activites are one time per quest only, but they at least added car racing even after the quest is done.

CDPR promised me a Lamborghini in 2014, but when I opened my garage, there was a cute bettle wagon ready to bounce. Who would say no to that? That can be fun too. Like when I shake my fake boobs and guys still get a hard on.

Final Re-score 6.5/10 - Bettle wagon of happiness

Good: Great immersion, very loyal to the source material, nice cyberpunk themed experience. Bad: Underdeveloped features, heavily scripted quests, lack of attention and technical debts. I recommend buying it in discounts. See a review about the danger of mods in here.

The difference as I see were the developers. The last bunch on earth that would ever pull this shit on us. Still living to accept we never matter to anyone. Only money matters.

7 days to die and ark went that same route. to the point where we all wait for the modders to fix everything.

I actually had to update this review again, and this is tiresome. I wish I could go back in time and undo everything. It is hard to be a gamer and a nerd in greedy times like this.

I am not sure if I remember your previous Cyberpunk 2077 review(s), but from the text, it feels as if you were ashamed that you dared to enjoy its positive aspects before.. I would not call that as a bad approach despite them (judging by this review) making several aspects wore with the recent patch.

Thanks for your comments, right now I'm no longer popular anymore  but who cares. At this point it is totally irrelevant. Don't trust to hope, the best move is to move on. This thing seems destined to failure, what a waste.

Personally I like to wait for the hype of a game to die down so I don't get influenced one way or the other and I wonder if this was a challenge you faced with this review.
