Snappy gameplay, and fun with friends for free. Hero abilities are hit and miss on how polished they feel and the lobby UI is a rabbit hole - but in-game itself everything is very to the point and rapid. If you're really into your 5v5 shooters this could feel a little rough around the edges, but for someone like me that just adds to the fun of it.

Too expensive for the amount of content. I was having a great time playing the game until I was no longer seeing new monsters. Friend had a quick google and it turns out we've seen everything except one new guy later in the main quest line. Haven't lost a single fight and I've played maybe 40 hours across 12 years or so of monster hunter games. I'm really not a good player at all, like to the point I didn't realise you could use the shield to do attacks with a weapon literally called "sword and shield".

I guess I'm just disappointed that there's such a cool open world with so few monsters in it, when there's so many monsters from worlds they could have just slapped in for (what I would assume would be) not as much development time as creating a monster from scratch.

Not really sure there's much else for me to do, making this the least value-for-money 60 quid game I've played. 20 of my play hours was getting to high rank, as people said "that's when the game opens up". I got a few hours of play time where I could finally easily play with friends, and now it's just essentially over.

FINALLY. A game that scratches that monster train itch where numbers are bigger than the number of toes on your hands and fingers on your feet.

This game feels AWESOME when you cook a run with some filthy multipliers. And if you don't, you find yourself starting a new run without even realising it.

More than worth the price tag if you like roguelikes, or deck builders, or just any kind of video game that's ever existed.

The game seemed super slow on my shared world with a mate. I was struggling to hit level 14 after clutching wins against the big boss mons out in the world. I was ready to leave a negative review based on how grindy the game seemed like it was gonna be.

I started a solo world and focused on catching ten of each mon after finding a reddit comment saying to do just that. My god, you fly through the levels and get into the meat of the gameplay so much faster! The xp bonus from catching the first 10 of each species scales with your level, so you can spend time at the base and then go into the world armed to the teeth with pokeballs. Multiple levels in 10 minutes, easy peasy.

My solo character also only has points invested into work speed, and it lets you smash through resources at the base. If you're catching 10 of each species you'll have some good mons to do all the fighting for you!

For the price it's a strong recommendation from me, even if you only play it for 10 hours or so. It's a glimpse of what pokemon could and should be.

Incredible dungeon crawler with an awesome spooky art style. I just completed my first run, maybe the 5th or so run? If you're good at other roguelite deckbuilders (though it's arguable whether this counts as a deckbuilder) then you can apply a lot of the same logic and strategies to this game.

I see a number of people saying the game is too based on rng, but from my experience that's part of the game's experience. At any moment you're only able to take one of a few actions, and you need to figure out which of those actions is going to provide you with the most valuable outcome. Sometimes that means taking risks and getting curbstomped by the dice, but that's how it is in these run-based games. I think I've played enough of these types of games now that I can "see the matrix" and pick apart game mechanics, which is further helped by myself being a games programmer. The first run I completed I had utterly broken stats, which was indeed aided by good rng with the items I found along the way, but it was built off the back of several failed runs before, and knowing which items I wanted to take a chance with equipping.

For anyone struggling to progress further in the game, consider if items that provide knockback or other board-manipulating items could give you an extra option or two when you're coming up against a sticky situation. And I'd honestly just forget about the clarity stat, as it doesn't get you many benefits and there's some very powerful items that require you to have as low a clarity as possible! You can then focus on speed and defence, which are arguably more important than attack, as many items provide you with damage buffs based on other stats or item synergies.

Overall, an awesome game that's exactly what I was hoping for from this genre. And for those who are still to beat it - I believe in you!
