coincidentally, it's my 33-rd review. i know, i know, it's the reverse order in the game, but still.

anyway, the game's great so far! i didn't think a UE5 game would run on a mere 1050ti, but with the power of CRT and modding, it does!
the only thing that's really lacking is a difficulty mode that's in-between Expeditioner and Expert. one's too forgiving and the other requires precision.

i'll take it upon myself to claim that the diving sections are nobody's favourites, then why are they so drawn out? but other than that, the game is very engaging. kept my attention to the end. but yes, it's quite a bit janky with the unnecessary geometry collision and slow combat vs fast and erratic enemies. i think the combat shined best at a middle section with the trolls. probably because you didn't need to predict enemy movement. i like that there's such a variety of enemies and locations, but a more focused experience would be better

cozy, ADHD-friendly game :D lacks polish but it's cheap on sale and fully voiced, so i can't complain about that. no game-breaking bugs or anything. the story is sweet, you get to choose an ending based on your actions.

Get ya girls and enbies in line, get y'all Prisms ready, rinse with Thunderstorm. The battle begins.

Okay really, the timings are a lot in this game, and it sure loves to dump one dungeon after the next. But there are really sweet moments in the game, the characters are all interesting, makes you feel like a real gaymer. Keep your expectations in check and you'll be alright.

Metroid (Prime) structure and Dark Souls feel. Of all the stuff I've seen about the game before, I didn't get how much it was *that* before I started playing. Not just Uncharted Star Wars.
The combat is satisfyingly challenging, pick the jedi master difficulty if you've played a souls game before for a challenge where you can die a few times but always knowing there's a thing you can learn about the boss or change your approach to win. Victory is within reach, you have to be focused, but it's never overwhelming.
The exploration is entertaining, too. If you like ruins, big ship ruins especially, this is your game. A lot of fun platforming and rope swinging, smart level design and space utilization.

And yet, the in-game rewards are a little weak, and some maps are just humongous without fast travel, even with shortcuts. Sometimes you're just running back to the ship with nothing. Not nearly as focused as Metroid Prime in that regard, but that's understandable. The story content is also very core-ish, with little side things to do to flesh out the characters more. Some physics puzzles with timings are a bit wonky. Some attacks can wrap up the boss fight before the enemy is done talking.

Technically the game is all over the place. Yes, it runs very well in fps, my 1050ti gets to 60fps often with dynamic res, but somehow dynamic res doesn't work until you switch the framerate cap back and forth. It looks great in HDR. Stutters plague every version of the game, so... install it on the ssd.

The game very clearly had a greater story scope intended, so let's see what the sequel brings. Meanwhile it's a steal with a subscription. Great game.
