Competent bullet-hell shooter but lacks in comparison to games like ROR2 and Gun fire reborn.

The levels are fun, a bit samey and not quite enough interesting stuff going on, but they do the job.
The enemies are the stand out, interesting bullet hell mechanics and fire patterns, feels tricky but fair.
Movement is fine, the characters are responsive, they could use a little more visual feedback and the dodge through bullets is a cool mechanic.

Where the game really falls flat is the advancement. The game is far too balanced, every run feels very 'samey' because there are only a few improvements to get per character and there is fairly minimal stacking. They even have a cool grid boosting that could be perfect for stacking but they don't let you do it so it just ends up being extremely constrained. This just makes every run feel pretty much like the last run. It makes for a game that's fun for a few hours but quickly loses it's shine. I'd say it's a good grab for under 5 dollars but probably not worth full price even at 15 dollars.

The game also lacks tons of QOL features, no run stats, character details etc. It's kind of maddening because they clearly track this stuff they just choose not to display it.

It's a shame the game has fine old school bones but it feels too much like the devs weren't willing to let it 'find the fun' and failed to add in that final polish.

Fun premise weak and buggy gameplay. The idea of controlling a mob tthat swarms foes to death but needs to be indirectly manipulated to survive seems fun.

However, the mob often ends up blocking itself into uselessness, gets wiped way too fast and sometimes unavoidably, and certain bosses are massive difficulty spikes. Would bee way better if it wasn't a rogue-lite: by the like 5th time you have a 30 minute run and get to the next to last level only to be wiped by some nonsense it just doesn't feel like it's worth trying again. Fun for an hour, but not much past that.

Most fun FPS/RPG period.

This game makes every other RPG feel lacking. The sheer joy of booting enemies off ledges, setting them on fire, baiting them into horrifying traps, and chucking objects at them keeps me coming back. But behind that there is a surprisingly deep and interesting combat system, each path of skills are well balanced and each makes for a very different play-through. The game starts hard until you realize what makes the combat richer and more tactical than any other FPS/RPG and at that point it becomes a gleeful slaughter-fest that never loses the edge of difficulty but never becomes totally impossible. The plot is mostly boilerplate dumb fantasy, but is smart enough to stay out of your way and let you get to the killing, it's not obnoxiously bad in anyway.

Note there are a couple memory leaks that are easily fixed, if your game starts chugging look up a fix.

Pro: Solid gameplay. Where Hotline Miami is more about strategy and speed (level layout and hitting people fast) this game is more about tactics (using the right weapons and bunching up foes). Lots of fun, good music, good art style, unique reloading system.

Con: Reloading and ammo picking up system is slow and gets burdensome near the end. The art style sometimes hides enemies who kill you. The view is a little too zoomed in and the jerky screen often left me a little disoriented.

Neutral: The plot is pretty silly, but not more silly than your usual western, it fits, it's not exceptional or terrible.
