An expansion and improvement on the formula that made Crusader Kings II a success, Crusader Kings III, even without any of the DLC (both of which have significantly enhanced the experience) is at once both familiar and fresh, placing a greater emphasis on decisions around culture and religion than in the previous game. All in all, a really satisfying experience, whether playing as a Western or Eastern ruler, Christian or Pagan, Republic or Feudal - each method provides its own satisfying gameplay experience.

Even though it's out of early access the game still periodically freezes for no obvious reason. I also am suspicious that the RNG is biased to make unlikely events happen more frequently (I have now on three separate occasions observed an enemy draw the same reshuffled card from their deck 4 times in a row, which is three events each with 1/512 change of occurring - impossible, no ,but unlikely enough to raise an eyebrow). Ultimately, I don't think you can replicate the tabletop experience on the PC. Limits that have satisfying explanations on tabletop feel arbitrary on PC. Ultimately, I was much happier with the tabletop game and I really feel that this was not worth waiting through early access for. I'm sick of falling in love with the game I hope something will be, only to never see it get there.

Tabletop Simulator is great. That's pretty much all there is to it. I don't think there's any feature the game is missing.

This game is straight up one of the coolest RPGs I have ever played. It's in the style of a modern tabletop with an expansive list of skills governed by a simple dice mechanic. Initially, I focused on playing the "best" way I could, but gradually, I got the impression that it was much more interesting to just play as I saw fit, letting the dice fall where they may and living with the consequences of my decisions (desirable and otherwise). I supported communism, candyflipped and danced myself into a stupor, went on a date, became an enthusiastic cryptozoologist and sang karaoke. A+ 10/10 five stars would recommend forever.

I'm sure you know this game has a reputation for being hard. If only it was also fun.

Much better as a multiplayer game than a single-player experience. Bring friends and prepared for some awesome frenetic action. If you liked Towerfall, you'll almost certainly like Samurai Gunn.

Early Access Review
Awesome game with interesting vs. mechanics. Lots of variation, very fun. Best with 4 players, not so great with 2. 3 is ok.

First 4 hours: OMG! Sooooo creepy!
Second 4 hours: Ok... the creepy is kind of wearing off.
Subsequent time: I am sick of this and I'm sick of dying for no reason just because the alien happened to appear directly in front of / behind me with no warning and I would really like to just see the story, but I can't because I'm trying to sneak out of medical reception and there's no save points for about 15 minutes of gameplay.

I really want to enjoy this game. I love the Total War series, and this seemed like such an interesting entry in the series. The Campaign just straight up isn't fun, though.

People complain about the difficulty. It's not just that it's difficult - it's that you start with next to nothing surrounded by much more powerful factions all of whom have access to the coolest toys while you're still trying to upgrade your blacksmith so you can hire more halbardiers.

As an example, I started a game (on EASY) where, within 3 turns, everyone around me on every side had a hate-on for me. I didn't even get to interact with them before this. I had Altdorf and Grunberg. It's literally impossible for me to have more than that at this juncture. Marienburg has an entire region, and the Empire Secessionists have two of the cities in my current area. Then, out of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nowhere, the Beastmen move PAST the E.S.'s city to attack me. Because ♥♥♥♥ me I guess.

I enjoy the combat and the strategic gameplay, but I don't enjoy not having anything fun to field and having to face (literally) impossible odds. I have historically been very good at the Total War series, but this just isn't fun. I get to peck away at my enemies with armies consisting entirely of swordsmen, spearmen and crossbows while I wait to get something fun; meanwhile my enemies get flagellants, free companies, mortars and outriders. I'm not going to spend 30 turns waiting to actually play the game. That's asinine.

Could've been good, which makes it worse.

The Yawhg is an interesting, if short, choose-your-own-adventure style game. It isn't difficult, but a lot of the game feels arbitrary and over-simple. It is definitely best as a multiplayer experience where four friends decide the fate of the (beautifully illustrated) characters. The soundtrack, while small, is breathtaking, and the illustrations are wonderful. If only it felt me like I had control of the outcome, and if only it went on for more than six turns a game, I would be the game's biggest fan, but it is short, sweet and more than a little random. I still recommend it, provided you can get it on sale so you don't pay ten whole bucks for such a short experience.
