I still have my original copy and can't tell you how many hours I put into this game over the years. It was always the first game I reinstalled whenever I upgraded my tech and it's nice to see it dutifully recreated on steam. Alpha Centauri is the pinnacle of Civ games as it always felt deeper and more serious than its cartoon caricature counterparts.

Edit: It's been fixed. Game is recommended again.

Would this have gotten a positive review from me in the past? Sure. Will it today? No. Not when it's 2023 and we're still losing Ironman saves (third time now) to the Preparing Game Infinite Nightmarescape. When that gets fixed I'll give this a positive review. Until then, no dice.

A well crafted game that captures the essence of D&D and those games that came before it. You don't need to have played either of the first two games of its namesake or Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights to enjoy this. However, those who have will be treated to a warm nostalgia trip that will last the entire playthrough.

Solid game at release. P2W, money-grabbing garbage now. Your best bet is to just play a few games sometimes and not bother with the season quests. Also, remember to make sure you intentionally throw some matches sporadically so as not to advance in rank high enough where the P2W produces a phone-tossing loss every game.

Sean Murray and the Hello Games team have been diligent in giving us fresh content and the Frontiers update did not disappoint. Each update has added something different yet they fit together seamlessly still allowing you to play your way: whether an explorer, entrepreneur, colonist, mercenary, or pirate. The universe(s) is your to explore or not.

Yet another beloved title stripped of its expansions and multiplayer support. At least the entire bundle was on sale for three dollars. The cursor doesn't even appear to advance the game past the title screen.

Still the same old mindless hack-and-slash we remember (and some of us still have) yet with multiplayer support disabled. It's a real shame too.

Ark can be both extremely rewarding but extremely frustrating. Between the endless supply of dinos who want to eat you for lunch and the endless supply of people ready to kill you simply because they're bored and they can, the game can be a major turn-off in the early going. However, if you find the right server that leaves only the dinos...and server side political wrangling. Basically it's Hardcore Sims.

Edit: Since the developer as done a 180 and will be wiping data, making the original game unplayable, and charging for Unreal Engine 5 after they said they would not I can no longer recommend this game.
