Divinity: Original Sin 2 in a D&D setting, leaning much heavier into the characters and plot.
Stable and modular in singleplayer, very permissive in multiplayer. Easy for new players to get into, easy for experienced players to exploit and break.

What should be a base game feature is being sold separately, for the price of a standalone indie game.

A colony building game, which focuses on the initial (and most fun) part of the genre: exploring, expanding, growing. It quits before the dull mid game optimization and redesign phases.
A roguelike game, which has longer sessions, and in which each run delivers at least a little bit of resources, and goes towards slightly improving your chances next game.
A game in which you can choose your difficulty dynamically, and bigger difficulty runs reward more resources, and its all easily understood as the farther you settle, the harder the run is.

Overall very good synthesis of a few genres I like. Frequent update, stable game, missions and randomness of the plans and resources have you exploring all of its options in time, and you don't stick to one winning strategy. Visually interesting, audio is plain, the rain-punk theme is cool initially, if mechanically not very sophisticated.

Would recommend to all roguelike and colony building games fans.

Good detox for Civ5 addicts. Beware long winters.

With all DLC and community mods it's actually superior to Civilization IV.
