Pretty great game if you want to play Fallout but want gameplay that's more like XCOM. Fairly in-depth customisation with the option to create your own party as well as recruit NPCs. Speaking of NPCs, the story and world are well-written and fleshed-out, and you get a good amount of choices and paths to explore. Entertaining quests and characters. Gritty yet fun setting with a smattering of edgy humour (though not too edgy to get on my nerves, YMMV of course). Like, you've got nuns with Gatling guns here.

As for the negatives, I remember the game having a noticeable difficulty spike in Santa Fe (the second "world map" after Arizona). This might frustrate players who aren't prepared for it. And for something released in 2014, it has average graphics at best. Not the most visually captivating game ever, but that's not why I play it :p

Early Access Review
I can't believe Neko Atsume has PVP!

Pros:
+A fun, original theme, frankly refreshing in a sea of generic fantasy/sci-fi stuff on the market
+Not pay-to-win (at least so far); never spent a cent and I have no problem doing PVP
+Character designs! The female cats look just as fierce and ready for battle as their male counterparts, which is awesome; skimpy outfits are thankfully minimal (unlike *cough* so many other games in the market...)
Cons:
-A lot of the gameplay relies on chance/luck; it would be nice if there were more player input, so we'd have more of an incentive to manually play a match instead of skipping it
-Progression is uneven; you initially go through the campaign levels at a fairly fast rate, but the later levels are nearly impossible to beat past bronze

Overall it's an enjoyable casual game, looking forward to more content!

I would say this is a quaint little game. Here's what I think:

-Great writing; I found it to be thought-provoking overall, with some lighthearted moments
-Immersive, wonderful music (imo the best aspect of the game)
-The use of retro PS1 graphics is nice and not at all bad, fitting for the game's theme of contemplating the past
-The exploration aspect could use some improvement; the player character moves a tad too slow and there were some clipping issues

If you've got a couple of hours to spare, All Our Asias is worth a try.

Breathtaking illustrations come together to tell a compelling tale. Sure, it's a simple one, but it's charming nonetheless. If nothing else, it won't take up much of your time (ten minutes at most).

Supergiant Games delivers an outstanding game yet again. Loved every bit of it--the art and music, the story, the gameplay, and most importantly the colourful cast of characters! If you enjoyed Bastion or Transistor you should try Pyre, although the team-based gameplay can take some getting used to.

I have to admit, I had some reservations at first because I'm not used to sports games, but now there's a difficulty setting available right from the start if you need it, and the game itself isn't too hard to beat on standard difficulty. Whether you want to enjoy the game for its challenges or its narrative--the choice is up to you.

Update:

It's been six years, and having played a lot of Hades, I still think Pyre is my favourite of the bunch. I'm actually a bit sad that it's not as popular as the studio's other work, because IMO this is Supergiant at its most creative, arguably its magnum opus. It might not have Hades' blood-pumping, infinitely enjoyable gameplay, but Pyre has such a unique world and premise that I still remember fondly. Where else do you get people wearing robes with ridiculous masks as they duke it out in magic basketball? And yet it works.

As you become immersed in the narrative and grow to appreciate the stakes, everything comes together in that beautiful fervour shared by religious zealots and passionate sports fans alike. You befriend a bunch of ragtags that become a found family as you journey through vistas so jaw-dropping that your mind struggles to wrap itself around them. Plus, in an era where AAA studios (derogatory) are obsessed with ray tracing and needing a high-end system to have a passable experience, I've come to appreciate games that look incredible even on a potato.

Do take this review with a grain of salt, and I don't think Pyre is perfect. I wish the OST had more songs (Never to Return 🔥🔥🔥). It doesn't have as much character or story content as an actual visual novel, but then again, I was fine with Hades' story not having much depth.

(This is my first review so bear with me)
I'm just going to list off the points that I liked and disliked about the game:

+Creative combat for something that is basically just RMB + LMB (and space)
+Cool soundtrack
+Decent story and setting, very immersive
+Biracial female protag!!! And a well-done one at that too!
+Unique and great art style that meshes quite well with gameplay and UI

-Combat can get REALLY frustrating/repetitive at times
-Bonuses are hard to find
-Very linear gameplay (e.g. with Assassin's Creed you have a variety of ways to approach your missions... Not here though)
-Not much replay value (unless you're the type to 100% complete everything)
