system shock is a good game. very ahead of its time for when it released. nightdive studios did a good job with the fresh coat of paint. unfortunately, system shock is a hard game and you will die a lot, so consider that before you pick it up and get mocked by shodan and her silly little traps at least 50 times through the game. very funny video game that made me feel real despair

genuinely a joy of a game that looks incredibly good visually. looks are a bit deceptive because the game is still pretty decently challenging. soundtrack also bangs. there's a good flow to the game and it's truly very fun to play. only downside is that with some effects (rockets...) it's a bit easy to get lost visually.

also didn't see it advertised anywhere but the original version *is* also included, and that's wicked cool.

Early Access Review
I had some issues with the demo, but in the state it launched for in early access, I'm more than satisfied. Definitely a bit of a learning curve, but when you get in the zone, the flow is genuinely unmatched. Maybe a bit early to say this, but seeing how the demo turned into a much better feeling early-access, I have strong confidence that this will eventually become a genuinely incredible game.

i am too stupid to talk about any and all iconography present in this game, but from a game standpoint, i think this game is worth anyone and everyone's time. weird mix of hack and slash and tower defense that gets more involved than you would think, all while looking very good visually. capcom's strangest game in a while, and i'm insanely glad i bothered to pick it up and play it.

i played risk of rain forever ago. i didn't like it. i still don't like it. i don't know why i bought the remake. it's still risk of rain. if you liked it then you will like it now. the only question you should ask is if you want to give gearbox money. i don't know why i did in this instance.

it deserves its place in the roguelike pantheon is about the nicest thing i can say about it, i guess.

i am not a bullet hell expert. despite liking the genre i have never really invested time in it. they're one of the few things i cannot recommend with confidence to people due to my lack of experience with them on a level i would consider satisfactory

with all that said, i think this is worth your time. i feel like it keeps kicking me in the skull, there's an insane amount of option to pick between all the various versions alone, there's so many mechanics and the game loses itself visually a bit too much in the sauce effects, but i think it's a good time overall!

a pretty tight little gem of a game. great art direction complimented by a tale about the current pollution of the oceans, backed up by some solid gameplay. it's inspired by 3d action games of recent years (obviously dark souls) with the usual parry-dodge-block-attack combo. however, within that frame, it still does things its own way : what you do is rather committal, so no mashing attack brainlessly or dodging without learning what you're dodging.

the star of the show is the shell system, which serves as your magic system and your defenses. you get a decent amount of choice to customize those options and whether you want to focus more on magic, defenses or offense (sometimes with tradeoff) but every option you have at least feels usable.

the only part where the game falls a bit apart is the platforming - some segments are a tad wonky to execute. nothing particularly egregious, but whatever issues i ran into at least felt made up by the fact that thought went into how they created the world, and that helps me forgive those shortcomings.

it's not hard to see why the game had a bit of a viral moment and i think it's very much worth your time if 3d action games are up your alley in general.

it's still pretty good but capcom certainly thinks you should play the SE edition instead cause they even delisted this one
