Took me about 100 hours to get all steam achievements, a good 3-5 weeks of playing. I could keep going, too, there are several things still available to play for (I'd estimate another 50 hours ish!).

Just as all the other reviews already say, it's a great rogue-like with FANTASTIC build-craft, a smooth difficulty curve and lots of weapon/game-play variety. Amazing stuff and I thoroughly recommend for that alone.

The one critique I think people do need to hear is about the story. Yes, there is a crazy amount of dialogue in here and it just keeps going and going and going, very impressive. And it's all voice acted, too. But what people aren't pointing out is that in truth, the back 80% of the story in this game is boring as sin and amount of dialogue doesn't really save that.

They establish a great setting, plenty of mystery, and have a lot of fun with Greek Mythology. The revelation that Demeter has frozen over the mortal world in an apocalyptic winter because of her missing daughter was awesome!.

But for such a high stakes and intriguing setting, there aren't any really satisfying story beats. Everything just sort of resolves itself in the most banal, anti climatic ways. The vast majority of the back half of this game I would describe as playing happy family simulator. You're just giving gifts to people and watching hours and hours of people going on about how much they love and appreciate each-other. Everything falls flat and all the most intriguing story ideas Is a war between the Olympians and Cthonic gods brewing? end lamely No it's OK, we'll throw a party and forgive each-other because all families have their problems!. Almost every interesting character gets boiled away to being a sappy caricature.

A bit of wholesome sentimentality is fun to indulge in, but SuperGiant seems to have mistaken that for all a story needs. It became Mawkish and dull to me, despite a really strong start. Not the story that these other reviews are suggesting at all.

Otherwise good stuff!
