Early Access Review
Was excited for this game, but cannot recommend it or support devs like this:
Pros:
-Looks like a cool concept

Cons (Many are due to devs literally being lazy and looking for a cash grab without care for the game):
- Non descriptive upgrades
- Quest targets not even spawning or counting to be able to do the quest
- Major spelling and word errors
- Literally all upgrades feel exactly the same, it doesn't matter what you click. Inside of the run nothing feels cool or unique, you just level and click whatever and it feels the same as if you clicked whatever else.
- None of the unlocks even feel unique, archers feel like mages, morters like all other morters, cannons like all other cannons.
- Progression takes crazy long because you can't even do a lot of the quests because the things for them don't even spawn in the stage they are locked too.

The devs and company clearly spent like 0 time testing or looking at anything, many of these issues were brought up before release months ago, and devs posted in the threads saying "dev here, thanks for the feedback", then release months alter a final product with all of the same sht in it. They are just going to grab that $$$ then be out, don't support them.

Also the game has like 0 replayability fun because literally everything feels the same however you build or whatever you choose midrun, and all of the enemies and bosses too.

Once again, this is basically the same stunt monster hunter wilds did, and an example of companies abusing their player base's trust in them, and love for a franchise.

1) As a dev myself, I will start off by saying the performance and optimization of this game is a joke and a slap to the face to everyone that bought it. It runs like literal sht. This maybe would be acceptable if a game was pushing the visual boundaries of current gen games, but the game looks worse than most average games out there in our current era, that have exponentially better performance. This is likely a result of cost cutting, and likely outsourcing a lot of the dev work, and not paying for proper testing and code reviews. Most of the code contributions probably came from people that were contracted out, that did not care about the actual product they were creating. (This isn't even factoring in the people that can't even get the game to run to a playable standard, despite having decent hardware)

2) Secondly, the gameplay itself is pretty average to subpar overall. It basically feels like every other borderland, but the story is awful and there and not really been any impactful improvements that make this feel like an upgrade from the previous borderlands. They may as well just released a large dlc for borderlands 3 instead of this. Character movement and shooting feels off. Looting doesn't feel impactful. Nothing done really feels impactful, and it feels like a game to get a few hours out of, and playthrough once quickly just to say you finished it, then move on to a better game/a main game, which is also crazy because the price of this game is a main game price. The missions are not engaging at all, and the open world feels pointless.

Overall, l would highly recommend staying away from this game, and wait until they either improve it significantly in both performance and content, and wait for a large sale on it before buying it. Gearbox doesn't deserve any money for this. Indie devs could have made a better game, that performed better, faster. This is honestly a joke. These things will continue to happen as long as people keep falling for pre-orders and buying games and not refunding them, waiting around for game studios to slowly and cheaply catch up to an acceptable product.

Game is legitimately the best game in the last 10-15 years. The only con I could see annoying people is new releases do not make the new content available in old save (doesn't happen frequently), however you must keep in mind, they are releasing major expansions for FREE, and secondly they are not stopping anyone from continuing to play their old saves. You can 100% continue playing your old saves as long as you would like.

For this style of game though, new content not being available in old saves isn't really a con because the game doesn't 100% revolve around endgame activities, and most of the fun is in the progression and game itself and the journey.

It's similar to rust in the sense that the game wouldn't be very much fun just sitting at endgame the whole time because the game was designed to play on a cycle/wipe system, the fun is surviving and progressing and the things that happen along the way.

It's honestly a disgrace how this game released. It looks like absolute garbage, like literally worse than games 10+ years older than this, and then to top it off it performs terribly in every way. It's laggy, stutters, is choppy, and looks like trash.

I can't even comment on the gameplay yet, because my eyes are actively being harmed, even on the highest settings, looking at this garbage.

Would definitely recommend refunding and not touching this game until they figure themselves out and getting it on a sale. Hopefully eventually something gets passed to give a penalty for companies abusing pre-orders and pre-releases to still profit from releasing garbage. This was clearly not actually tested at all.

Anyone that is up-voting this game at the moment, has to be a bot or paid to do it, because its optimization is so bad, even with a top tier PC, that you can't even enjoy the gameplay and progression at the moment to judge how that is.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit:
Updating after playing the game more because I was stuck with the copy since I was literally in the menu's for over 2 hours trying to get the game to not look and perform like sht.

The game is hidious even on max settings, it looks like ps2 textures and graphics. The world feels small and clausterphobic. There is not much to do in the game, and the monster roster is pretty boring and small. Upgrades aren't needed for anything, you can do Hight Rank tempered monsters with good kill times in Low Rank gear.

Then to top all of this off, a game that has been in development for 5-6 years, a lot of the skills are bugged and don't work, general game features are bugged like popup camps and quest progression, matchmaking is terrible and doesn't work most of the time due to constant connection errors.

I still would not recommend this game after completing everything in it (only because I was stuck with this copy sadly. Jokes on me for pre-ordering a game). I wish I could return it, and I will never be purchasing another game from capcom again.

I would at least have a little respect for them if the game looked amazing and the game functionality itself was amazing and was working properly, and they were having performance issues, but nothing justifies the bad performance because again the game literally causes eye strain to look at it's so bad, and the gameplay is terrible. All of the bugs and broken things inside aside, the gameplay isn't even fun because you have huge input lag from having to use framegen just to maybe get 40-60fps, even with a high end PC.

Game is literally unplayable for a large amount of people, and additional patches are making it worse. The game is freezing, failing to load, lagging, not rendering characters, despite excellent PC specs, connection, ping, and fps. They seem to not be prioritizing fixing this, which is unacceptable.

I would not recommend touching this game for a few months, until they iron out the kinks (if they do at all).

Game play wise:

The game is ok. It's nothing exceptional or different though, and feels basically the same as Overwatch and Paladins.

It's most likely popular right now only because it's new, and people like marvel characters, but outside of that, it's the same as any other title in this genre.
