A creature I can only describe as a green rain drop wearing a suit recommended this game to me. It's very good.

This game is an awful lot of fun and incredibly satisfying. Honestly, nothing beats the combat which is simple enough to be accessible while having just enough depth to be really satisfying when you outplay your opponent.

There's a lot to be said about interacting with other players. It's kind like TF2 in a way, where the limited voice lines can make for some very funny conversations. Part of me is glad there's no team voice chat but I kinda want to see what kind of chaos that could bring.

Even the game pass is nowhere near as predatory as some games. They give you unlimited time and you earn nearly all your money back over time.

However, it is still a tough sell for its price. It's straight up only multiplayer and honestly the game could use a few new maps. What it has are great for the most part, with only some minor balance issues for one side - I'm looking at the latest map in particular when the attacking team has absolutely no time to complete their objectives. It doesn't help when it can feel that you repeat the same maps over and over again but the game play still holds up even then.

One thing I would say is to please let parties stay on the same team. As much as styling over my older brother is fun, he needs all the help he can get! It ruins the night if we're switching teams half the time.

Also, the fact that some weapons can hit you when you're behind the enemy gets annoying but I'm just nitpicking now.
Definitely get this game while it's on sale but if you have the cash, it's worth the price.

I've seen a couple negative comments about how this game is "only" Brutal Doom but 40K.... that's exactly what it is and it's glorious!

I wish there was a third option for "it's ok" or "I wouldn't recommend it to everyone but some people may get a kick out of it".

Clearly a lot of love and hard work has been poured into this project, it runs smoothly and feels like it could have been a mini-game within Half-life. For that, it should be commended. However, that's all it feels like, a mini-game, as the amount of content is just not enough for me to recommend. A lot of the basic elements of RTS games from the last two decades are missing, such as a wider range of research (beyond weapons), tech-levels and a wide variety of units. The latter is quite underwhelming in my opinion.

That said, it is very well polished and does fit nicely within the half-life universe. It's just that the game play got dull after two skirmishes trying both factions. I really want to like this as I heard it was similar to Dawn of War and Company of Heroes, but even with lower expectations (this is a free mod after all) I just don't feel like playing it any more. At the end of the day, if a game gets boring after less than an hour, I can't recommend it fully.

Sit back and relax. Your children won't be dead by the time Bannerlord is released.
