Star Wars Battlefront II: From Lootbox Dumpster Fire to Actually Pretty Great

Platform: Windows / Steam
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 570
Settings: Maxed out, 60 FPS like a champ.
Yes, even my mid-range GPU said, “I got this.”

The Beginning Was... Rough

Remember when this game launched and EA tried to charge you actual money to unlock HALF THE STORY?
Yeah, good times. It was like watching a dumpster fire...
But credit where it’s due—they slowly dragged this game out of the microtransaction pit, hosed it down, and now?
It’s... pretty dang solid.

What You Actually Get

  1. A surprisingly decent single-player campaign with Iden Versio, a new character who doesn’t immediately make you want to take a nap.
  2. Fully customizable bot matches, so you can live out your Star Wars fantasies without sweaty multiplayer tryhards.
  3. Supremacy, Starfighter Assault, Arcade Mode, and other ways to pew-pew across all three eras: Clone Wars, Galactic Civil War, and whatever the sequel trilogy was trying to do.
  4. Graphics so good you’ll stop mid-match on Kamino just to admire the rain.
  5. Sound design that slaps harder than Vader force-choking your speakers. Seriously, DICE raided the entire Skywalker Sound archive and said, “Yeah, we’ll take all of it.”

The Bad Stuff (Because It’s Still EA, Let’s Be Real)

  1. Multiplayer balance? Ha! If someone has the top-tier cards, you're basically a walking target with a blaster.
  2. Matchmaking feels like waiting for a sequel trilogy movie that doesn’t retcon itself. 20-minute queue times? In this economy?

Final Verdict

This game went from “most hated thing on the internet” to “hey, this is actually kinda fire.”
If you’re a Star Wars fan and want something that looks incredible, sounds incredible, and lets you smack people with a lightsaber while John Williams music plays—this is it. Just... prepare to wait a while for a match.

9/10 – From Anakin-tier rage to Jedi Master redemption.
