I'd love to say this game aged well, but no.

It's still a good game, but it's a pathetically LOADING SCREEN RIDDEN mess.

I mean... "you can't fast travel from there"

You're 3 feet from a door.

You have to walk 3 feet go through the door which is a loading screen
Then you can fast travel which is a loading screen
In order to open a door which is a loading screen
Have one line of communication
Go back through the same door which is a loading screen
Then fast travel which is a loading screen

I swear I spend more time looking at loading screen art than the game itself. Even though each loading screen is... what, 2 seconds on average?

It's... testing my sanity at this point.

The game was great when it first came out because we didn't know about seamless maps. They really, REALLY should have "remastered" that part of the game. Not to mention fixed most of the broken questlines and bugs that have been in the game since it first came out like the pathing of NPCs that have to go do something (like let the count know you're there to see him) and get stuck trying to get on a stair case... forever. The bugs with spells not showing how much it costs to cast them because it says "constant effect" instead of the mana required as you scale up the damage, the problems with general physics, the problem with mounts getting lost or disappearing when you fast travel on foot (even special ones like the Dark Brotherhood provides), the glitch where you can be completely invisible when you're at 100% Chameleon, but still get bounties for killing people even though literally nobody can see you.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a charming game, but if you're AT ALL impatient, this isn't going to be a game you're going to enjoy in 2025.

Now, granted, this is end-game I'm talking about where you've explored most of the map, made it to level 40 and are just fiddling with "luck" and the last few holdouts of skills you don't use much for leveling and have most of the map unlocked so you're basically fast-traveling almost everywhere. But, when that happens... you're going to think about this review and go "yep, he was right".

I have to vote it down for the quality of the "remaster" rather than the game itself. They did very little to update the problems and issues this game had and did NOTHING to update the mechanics of the maps and the game itself.

True, it’s basically the same game with new textures slapped on. The final fight in the Capital might’ve been acceptable 20 years ago, but now it just feels like a circus — reminds me of the Hoover Dam finale in New Vegas. Add to that the endless loading screens, and it’s ridiculous for a supposedly kinda (((new))) UE5 game priced at 40 bucks. I really can’t agree with all the positive reviews — feels like the same old balls, just from a different angle.
