It's Mid.

It's wildly unbalanced which is fine it was like that in the OG but when you introduce ranked modes you can't have unbalanced characters. The argument here is to play the DP battle mode where characters you pick have costs associated to them. Thats fine i suppose but for the people who want to play single character ranked you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥. You'll run into mostly SSJ4 Gogeta and UI Goku, they have more HP than you and do more Damage. At lower ranks this is a coin flip and you'll maybe be able to out skill the other player, but if a good player is playing any of the high powered characters you will lose. The controls are also wildly inconsistent, there is no penalty for constantly trying to use the games perception counter mechanic and you'll find alot of the matches boil down to staring at each other watching them tap this button. Super counters which are another big defense but it's super inconsistent, if you're fighting a slower attack rate character you'll struggle with this at it's got a super tight 3 to 4 frame window of input if you're fighting a character with fast attack rates you'll be able to mash out of atleast one or two strings, this is your only tool of getting out of certain characters infinite combos.

The story mode is a story, it's the same story you've heard for years. The redeeming quality here is the what if scenarios which are fun in their own right. If you're a fan of the OG BT3 then this game is probably a solid pick up for you, it doesn't do much to rock the boat, character balance is around the same as it was back then and the combat mechs have been deepened even if they don't always respond that well. If you're not a fan of BT3 there is frustration here if you want to treat this like other fighting games/arena fighters you've been warned.

The First Descendant is reminiscent of Warframe but with much more aggressive monetization. You are charged 25 Caliber (premium currency) for each individual color purchase, with no option for bundles. The ultimate character costs $70 and gives you a slightly better version of an existing character plus a skin. The premium bundle, priced at $100, includes the character skin and some additional items deemed worthy of the high price tag. New characters can be purchased for 300, 600, or 900 Caliber. However, you cannot buy the exact amount of Caliber you need, which feels like a typical free-to-play cash grab. The game itself is alright, but be warned: they are actively targeting your wallet.

Great Game! Naturally, people struggle with the concept of a objective and most mediums you run into won't heal you but hey. Damn good game

Do not download if you have 12th generation intel. The game will not launch for you. The devs have also not acknowledged the issue. Currently the community has developed a fix for it and you can find it in the forum thread for the issue. No official update from the dev team at this time.

-Update-

This has been fixed with the 64 bit client roll out.

The game is fun but i can't recommend it in the current state.

The $20 dollar buy in is too high for a game that rocks a premium currency to buy skins and loot boxes and is so aggressively acting like a free 2 play game with it's pricing when it very clearly isn't. There are currently plans for them to release new characters for Tae (In game currency) and gold (premium currency) literally screaming free 2 play module here. It's an okay melee focused battle royal with a rock paper scissors still of combat, sporting 3 modes. Solo/Trios/Blood Bath (FFA brawling) and a battle pass which you will also need to buy since it is not included in pricing.

Will change review should this game ever go free 2 play.

***Edit*** Game went f2p.

Takes about 4ish hours to get to multiplayer, longer depending on the person but that was me. Load times are horrible but turning off vsync fixes that problem instantly not sure why but hey i'm not a dev. Early skills feel clunky but unlocking new skills made combos much more fluent, camera is horrible tho. AI is pretty terrible but that's kinda a given at this point with these games. It's a solid game i'm 13 hours in and playing with friends and i'm having a alright time. Wouldn't pay 60 for it, but would be a easy pick up with like a discount.

Giving this one a wait for Sale

This is a very solid MK entry, easy to find games and while the ranked styles make me question the person that picked them, there's a use for just about everything. Everything you loved about MK just dialed up and refined a bit. Going on 60 hours on PC and even more on PS4.

Don't let my play time fool you, i enjoy this game a lot. A big fan of the Metrovania style games so this i great to play. The variety of weapons and the roguelike elements keep it easy to keep coming back to this game. If you're on the fence about this game, pick it up you won't regret it, easy to dump a few minutes or hours at a time into this game.

Early Access Review
Logged in played a couple games, died, bought another hunter and went right back at it. I enjoy the game it's fun. I only have one glaring issue with the game in it's current state and i feel like it should be made aware. The Duo queueing is 50/50 They have publically came out and confirmed a error that prevents duo queueing to the point that the work around is to just "Keep trying till it works" or "Do random queue with a friend at the exact same time on the same server and hope you get them" Now while i do enjoy this game i have to give me major down points for this factor. The key feature to this game for me and i imagine and others was the aspect of playing with a friend and others to hunt a monster. but sadly at the time of writing this (9:35PM 2/22/2018) it's basically impossible to duo queue. I stilll recommend it, just be aware of what you're getting to.

This is probably gonna be kinda one sided but oh well, my opinion is my opinion. I love the game, it has it's flaws like any other but its not boring, but ideas were put in place poorly. I can over look that, but what i can't over look is the lack of player base. This game at launch had a woppping.... wait for it... 428 players. That's right 428. Currently right now it's 132. You'll spend most of your time looking at your player model and spinning it in a circle or fiddling with the customization settings. Save your money and spend it on a better game. This isn't worth it and i for one would love to get a refund but i can't. So i'm writing this to hopefully save someone else
