Best FPS gameplay I have ever experienced, especially on controller. Shooting all guns feels incredible, and the balance between gunplay and abilities is perfect.
End game is very grindy and I do experience burnout every few months, but I always come back after taking a break.
Seasons usually feel rather repetitive (exactly the same formula every season), but the gameplay makes up for it.
The story is not really engaging for me anymore. It has gotten too serious, and many of the seasonal storylines feel rather irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. The Red War was the last storyline I truly enjoyed (I am very unhappy it is no longer available), and I definitely preferred the lighter atmopshere of the first game.

This game is the perfect example of why now is the time for remakes and reboots.
I have not played the original Mafia when it came out. I tried it a few years ago and did not really enjoy it. That is the main problem with most old games - if you have not played them before, you will not enjoy them now.
This is an amazing remake. Beautiful graphics (but no HDR on PC is just wrong). Great story and voice acting. The gunplay is not amazing, but it gets the job done. Car handling is fun, and there are some epic driving sequences to experience.
The atmosphere of an old-school mafia setting is just amazing. Radio stations are the icing on the cake. Make sure you listen to the news when you drive around.
The map is quite large for a linear story game, and actually more than half the map is made up of the countryside, but it is not fully utilized in the story. Definitely worth exploring in free play mode.

Game is pretty well optimized considering the graphics, but you will need a hyper-threaded quad core CPU for 60 FPS. On the GPU side, even an RTX 3080 cannot quite get locked 4K60, unless you push the core clock beyond 1900 MHz. TAA is very good, so lowering the resolution to 1800p or even 1440p is perfectly fine. No internal resolution scaling, though.
No major bugs, no crashes, no stutter (some occasional hitches can be observed, and pre-rendered videos are not smooth). But when I disabled the in-game Vsync (it was forced on in the driver), I had constant stuttering, so you should probably make sure to have that turned on.

All in all, a great game. This the kind of quality I expect from remakes. And I hope to see a lot more of them. Many old games are waiting to be reintroduced (Unreal, Quake, to name a few). This is the way.

One of the best simulation games of all time. Endless hours of relaxing driving, thousands of kilometers of roads to explore, as well as extensive modding support.
The developers have been supporting this game for four years and they are still providing big expansions, as well as smaller, free updates for everyone.
Infinite value for money.
As of 2023, the developers are still releasing free updates and new DLC.
