This is a cool proof of concept but is missing all of the details that make it enjoyable to play.

This game is a prime example of the power of atmosphere. With no music, voice lines, ambiance, or any other sounds that would lead you to believe you aren't alone in the world, you will be forced to focus on the gameplay. Unfortunately, the gameplay is very boring and trite. The AI is dumb. It often walks straight past you to the objective that they want to disarm (drill, powerbox, etc.) and are easy to dispatch. You also seemingly have infinite health. I was caught in the middle of the museum by a squad of SWAT who were lighting me up. I ran out of ammo after killing a few. I had time to reload and kill them all while eating their rounds. Only a few seconds later and my health had regenerated back to full! The entertainment value of only using one arm will quickly wear off. On the first try, I stealthed through the jewelry store and cracked the vault. Finally! The room was littered with cash, rings, jewelry, gold bars, and gold watches. To my immediate dismay, it was a chore. You have to pick up each item manually, walk it to the bag, drop it into the bag, which you'll miss, so you pick it up and try to drop it again. Then you carry the bag to the next desk with items on it. This time, you'll flip the bag over and dump items out. So you pick it up, flip it over, pick each item up, drop them in the bag again, and continue to collect valuables. Rinse and repeat. If you stealthed the mission, there are no guards to worry about. There are no cameras, no timers, no music. It is just dead silence while you struggle to put rings in a duffel bag. This takes like 6 minutes to fill the bags with these individual items. The money is useless because everything is locked behind higher level caps. There's only like 15 items in the whole game to buy. 3 levels to play, 2 more locked behind a cash wall. I played loud and stealth. Neither were impressive. This is a cool proof of concept but is missing all of the details that make it enjoyable to play.

Game crashes, cheaters, and clunky gunplay make this an easy pass.

Incredible atmosphere, true horror in certain moments. No spoilers, but this story is great and compliments the main storyline well.

Metro Exodus is a fantastic story driven shooter. There is plenty of loot to find and doing so is enjoyable. There are many opportunities to complete side quests and explore areas off the mission's path. Exodus does a great job of developing characters and you will truly care about what happens to each of them. I will say that this is the buggiest game I have played in quite some time. Interact with a door and walk forward too soon? Stuck in the wall. Drive too fast and bump a guard rail? Stuck on the rail. Jump on a boulder without the interaction to climb up it? Glitch against the wall. All of these bugs result in you reloading your last save. If you were diligent, maybe your're reset 30 seconds. If not and you're unlucky with the last autosave, it could be 5 or 10 minutes back. The customization in your equipment feels great. Being able to craft out of your backpack is fantastic. Enemies are diverse, threatening, and horrifying. Some of these encounters will truly have you squirming or leaning forward as your sprint to safety. I loved the twists in the story and the freedom to choose how to deal with the heads of each faction. Stealth is another area that I have a problem with. If one enemy spots you for a split second, the entire camp will know you're exact location and be aware of you. Even if you kill the enemy immediately, before they can yell and expose you, the entire camp is aware. This is really frustrating because often times enemies are bunched up in the stealth areas. My final gripe is about the juggernauts. They're few and far between, but the fights can become extremely drawn out if you do not dispatch them with Molotovs and shots to their exposed wrists. The first one you encounter is without explanation so I wasted a lot of time and ammo discovering his weakness. Unique, but an unrealistic bullet sponge that seems out of place compared to the rest of the enemies. Overall, the game is awesome and well worth the price tag. If you get it on sell, even better!

This game features complex writing such as "I thought we would stay out of this war until the end. Looks like the end is here now." and "I hope that ritual thing works out." You play an idiot who is running from a war until he is cornered. Nothing innovative or exceptional here.

Pros:
Uninstall and refund both work!

Cons:
Combat is clunky and repetitive
RPG elements are bare
Script was written by a 7 year old

Free weekend, the game is on sale 84% off, and I'm sitting in a lobby for 20 minutes waiting for 5 more people to join so we can start the round.... No voice chat is also a major L

Could be good, but the player base is too small and it still needs a lot of polish. Really cool idea but needs time and growth.

Early Access Review
I bought this game for $35 in January 2014. This game is unrecognizable compared to what it was initially. The novelty of the minecraft block style wore off rather quickly. There was a lack of detail in the assets and the world felt empty. I redownloaded the game to see how it had come along in the past 10 years this week. I cannot believe how polished it is now! The survival feels great. The combat feels good and the attacks feel like they have some power behind them. I enjoyed the looting, survival, and building aspects of the game thoroughly. I love the fact that each house on the map is totally different from one another and were designed individually. They each have their own vibes, stories, and dangers. Sometimes there are wild animals hiding inside, or you stumbled into the cabin in the woods from the Evil Dead and a zombie that resembles Ash shambles forth. Recently, I walked into a kitchen and felt the floorboards below me cave in. I fell 30 feet into a watery cave. I've also discovered hidden bosses! The houses are all fun to explore and loot. Overall, I've thoroughly enjoyed my time in the game this go around and am blown away by its progress. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys zombie, fps, or survival games.
