Great game, there's lots of fun to be had and wild west to learn. The story surprised me, the gameplay feels satisfying

This is unexpectedly really fun and unlike anything else I've ever played. The downside is there's not much of a regular player base now

First AAA title I 100%'ed, nuff said.

In all seriousness though, this game is pure fun for any casual players out there looking for a sweet story driven action RPG, the more you play the more skilled you get, the story and gameplay are both really fun to play through, my only complaints are on the controls which could be more responsive, and I've gone through some bugs who forced me to redo missions, although it's rare.
Overall, definitely worth buying.

Only played the campaign so far, it doesn't deserve a positive note because it seems as no effort was put into it what so ever. Everything followed the same generic path as ever, the devs probably said "hey, throw some stealth in the game so it's not 100% copied from previous titles" so the intern who has never played a game in his life decides to throw stealth in every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mission.
Any doubts that this game wasn't tested beforehand will be eliminated once you reach the tank mission. No sane human would put that ♥♥♥♥ in there and I'm glad to find out after finishing the campaign that I'm not the only one thinking it's awful. It's almost like the devs are trying to make you quit.
The quick time events could have been cool if they ever explained you need to not only smash the F button but to also rotate the mouse.
The storyline is nonexistent, there's no villains, no memorable characters. Pierson is a joke of a Sergeant with no character development whatsoever, and Zussman should remain the comic relief for the entirety of the game but instead ends up being the main drive, like I care for him. The game can't figure out if it wants to be a more realistic CoD or have an over the top storyline like always, but it certainly can't be both.
Oh well, let's test the multiplayer and zombies now. Hopefully this turns into a positive review soon

As a casual gamer, this is the most fun single-player experience I’ve had.

The story is simplistic but well written, the gameplay is unique, extremely fluid, and provides you with many ways to defeat your opponents. Lo Wang (Pun intended xD) is a master swordsman, and unless you're playing at a low difficulty level, the katana will be your main weapon. You can perform a ton of stylish attacks and slashes with it, while also using the more mainstream weapons the game offers (a pistol, smg, shotgun, flamethrower, rocket launcher, crossbow, shurikens) and their cool upgrades and alternative attacks, while using all of the cool wizard like powers you can acquire and evolve, while dashing, running and jumping as much as you want to. They make all of this intuitive, and I really felt like I was in full control of my character, unlike many other games with tons of gameplay mechanics and combos.

While the story that's told is serious, Lo Wang is always cracking up jokes and puns with his quirky demon sidekick, which for me just made me feel more immersed in the gameplay, besides all of the weird but funny battle cries Lo Wang will shout from time to time. The game has a lot of easter eggs and secrets that for once are actually cool to try and find out, not only because they make you basically explore the scenario in order to obtain them, but because they give you valuable rewards. Also loved that upon finding a retro area with naked pixelated cartoon girls, Lo Wang frequently decides to break the fourth wall and the dialogue is never repetitive.

There's an impressive variety of scenarios in the game, all of them being beautiful, each chapter has gigantic maps, the soundtrack fits each section of the game very well, the voice acting is pure gold, and although I enjoyed the comedic-like aura of the characters, it was satisfying to see a more serious tone towards the end. I felt like a badass swordsman from start to finish, and there were no bugs or crashes throughout the game.

To enjoy Shadow Warrior to the max you'll have to replay the campaign, keeping all of your unlocked upgrades and if you play for long enough, you'll fully max out your skill and power trees, as well as your weapon upgrades. Also, the last unlockable katana upgrade is absolutely amazing to play with and makes the gameplay twice as fun!

Overall there's not much I'd change in this game, I was disappointed by the lack of resolution in chapter 10, but that gets taken care of in the sequel.

TL:DR - Fun, unique gameplay. If you like what you see in the trailers, definitely get this game!
