Sparking Zero is a lovingly made, deceptively tough Dragon Ball experience. It's the sandbox you've been waiting for since you were ten, turned up to eleven. With a wealth of intense defensive mechanics and a ton of "what-if" story mode content, the game offers a decent amount of replayability coupled with a higher than expected competitive ceiling that will leave it reasonably popular for at least five to six years. While it won't replace Xenoverse for those who prefer making their own characters, the amount of content in the game will keep players coming for the weeks, months, and years ahead.

Only skip this game if you're waiting for a holiday purchase instead or don't want to cut your teeth on a more challenging Tenkaichi entry.

Atom Eve is a fun, brief venture into the world of Invincible left behind by the show. It covers a brief period that spans the first season.

If you watched Eve's origin episode, this game is a great way to get more time with her. Likewise, if you enjoy visual novels, it's a great, quick adventure with two romance paths.

While the game can be a little too quick (approximately 4 hours for a full playthrough), there is a degree of replayability to it that can double that time if you want to see how different things can get.

The combat learning curve is pretty direct, so you won't usually struggle in fights; its system lays out a nice, interesting formula for other games like it in the future. Would love to see more games set in the Invincible universe or from these devs in general.

Great singleplayer game to stream or to take a partner through.

Literally the only thing that could have made this game better for me would have been a New Game Plus mode where you enter the tournament a second time for the fun of it or something like that. Played through 3/4 on my own account and then a full time with a friend on stream.

Very endearing characters, surprisingly insightful conversations, and a fun learning curve that isn't too steep. I've never been happier to haggle.

WELL WORTH IT IN 2023

Before 2023, I wouldn't have recommended this game. However, the fixes, updates, and quality of life changes have really made the game so much better and so much more fun. Battle passes aren't a slog anymore, there are more options for gear and more armor sets, and Forge has been a blessing. With the Custom Game Browser added earlier this year, the customs scene is alive and thriving, and you can just hop into customs as opposed to having to go into Discord and ask for them.

THINGS THAT WERE ALREADY GOOD
- gunplay
- practice range
- visual clarity
- singleplayer campaign (separate purchase)
- free to play

THINGS THAT STILL NEED WORK
- battle pass UI
- rare desync issues
- weapon variety

This game suffers from pacing issues and huge visual bugs.

Narratively, it's fine — but not very memorable. The most interesting areas of the narrative are sadly not in its main mystery, which is ultimately unsatisfying, but the stories of side characters.

Love interests feel very two dimensional, though, and the development of those relationships feels rushed.

I don't recommend this game if you're looking for an experience similar to the first game.

Hades is honestly the best rogue-lite I've ever played. Strong metaprogression makes this game a "must buy" for beginners just entering the genre and heavy run variety makes it a "must try" for existing fans.

A great title for people who are just getting into fighting games. DBFZ is one of the most visually stunning fighting games out there, and affords every player the chance to do something amazing while still rewarding those who put in a significant time investment. Finding games for players near the top of the ladder can be tough, but it's still worth the often-on-sale price tag.

Starbound is probably the best exploration intensive game you'll find anywhere. A lot of people would suggest checking this title out if you're into minecraft, but I wouldn't really agree with that idea. I hate Minecraft and Terraria, but I love Starbound because it offers me the ability to explore an endless universe. Definitely the game to get if you want an adventure.
