Let me start by saying that this game is not bad it is actually very very good. The story is phenomenal, and I love the way they incorporate cutscenes into the story instead of just reading text for your quest. I pre-ordered this when it came out new back in 2011 and I probably have a couple hundred hours in the game there but I did eventually stop playing for a few years. once I saw this on steam and free-to-play I decided to give it a go again with a brand new character and convince friends to join me. This is where the problems start. They "claim closed quote this is a free-to-play game but there are many many stipulations to that. First of all as a free-to-play member you don't get access to better gear. You are not allowed to wear purple items or better quality items when you're free to play. that portion is blocked behind either subscribing or a pay wall by buying a token for $20 to allow you to wear them. Also once you hit level 20 you are told that you will get less XP for now on because you are free to play. if you have a problem you're out of luck as well because you could only open a ticket if your subscriber and you're limited on the amount of gold you can have best free-to-play player. I was able to get five friends to play this with me and each one of them stopped when they got a good drop that they couldn't use and the other ones stopped once they hit level 20 because the game is already a grind to begin with, you don't need the same grind and get less XP it just makes it even more grindy. Basically almost everything in this game is either blocked behind a subscription or a paywall. I've never understood why companies do this because you will turn off more people then you will gain by allowing your so-called free to play. They could have left it completely open with expansions purchasable unless you subscribe and still made tons of money with their cosmetics and mounts etc. I subscribe for 1 month to give referral codes so my friends and myself can get a few extra goodies, now that my friends are no longer playing I will continue to play for the month but will not be renewing my subscription. If anything, the greed of putting everything behind a paywall while calling yourself free-to-play has at least lost six new players within the first week of it appearing on steam.

its sort of sad and pathetic to see all there corporate shills gaslighting and simping for EA/Bioware to defend these disgusting and predatory practices. the game is a shambles of its former self.

I'm just going to sum up this paragraph that is above that is basically complaining about one thing and say that the guy doesn't like the game because he can't wear purple gear, which by the way is only useful for PVP and not story content because story content gives you gear to play it, and I'm just going to admit that if you came to SWTOR for PVP then you aren't going to like it because SWTOR PVP is horrible. This person just hates grinding and is making the less exp seem way worse than it actually is, you will legit spend the same amount of time doing a storyline as I will. If the guy who wrote this ever reads this, I would suggest stop playing MMOs if you can't even play SWTOR because of grinding when it is basically nonexistent in the game and you don't even need to kill NPCs for gear for reasons I already stated above.

well you have to bought slot using platinum and how to get platinum there is a free way to get it but limited and getting credits is hard till you reach certain amount of planet and to get platinum you have to grind again.
in swtor you can get unlock trough GTN using credit , cartel coin or sub and getting credit is fairly easy once you know how to get materials

I know the problems with warframe, but it still is free to play and doesn't block you from items. I have about 322 hrs in Warframe on PC, and probably about 500 on PS4, but I couldn't see how many you have. Either way, there is just too much behind a pay wall for SWTOR, so even if there is a huge grind for warframe, at least you can get the items you want, unlike SWTOR which wont unless you sub.

Yeah for those of you who praise warframe just remember that game
1. the stories is non- existent
2. RNG is broken as hell
3. massive update then ditch by the developer if its doesn't work for them
4.the grind is repetitive as hell took about a week or 2 to get something
5. not done yet to get your weapon over powered need forma and mod
6. took days just to get item and things done
7. they nerf everything that overpowered in a PVE focus game
8. they sold themselve to a chinese coporation

That is exactly why I stopped playing the game years ago.

you can buy stuff you need to sub to use with cartell coins you know.

I was subbed from the get-go, up until the Hutt expansion. I agree with you 100%!! If I go back and try to play as a former sub, or "Preferred Player" I still can't sue any of the gear I worked my tail off to get in all those raids. I solo pushed the phase on Stormcaller when the other DPS DCed at the beginning of the fight. We went through Karragga's Palace so many times just so everyone could get that mount. Then when we come back to enjoy the game and help some new friends, just like you, we can't use anything we worked so hard to get, and the new players quit due to the same circumstances you described with drops and levels/pay walls. I still go back time to time just to enjoy a little PvP, but I really haven't enjoyed my Sorc since they revamped the skills that first time around and took away the hybrid builds. It was fun while it lasted, but I just don't think I could ever bring myself to sub to this game again.

I sub'd to get the expansions and xp bonus. I also bought races to play as another character, bought cosmetics and a mount. But once I lost my friends to the game handicapping them and saw I would lose a ton of money and items by not resubscribing, then I said no thank you. I know, they got my money all ready, but this is what reviews are for. To warn those who thought the same as me to stay away. To each his own. Others her have valid points and like the game or option to play even though its limited, but I don't.

I just find F2P should be just that. If you want to add perks for those who want to sub or other benefits, then that is ok by me, but to penalize those who aren't subs, etc is just ridiculous. This is why there are stipulations on other things. Like Lifetime warranties. It the warranty is for the entire thing, you put Lifetime, but if the Lifetime only covers certain parts, then you put Limited. What really sucks is that they are trying a bait and switch in a sense. They don't tell you the stipulations until you get so far into the game. By then, you probably have all ready spent real money on cosmetics, etc because if your like me, I do like supporting devs. If I get free game (Warframe, Fortnite, Apex, Lol) I don't mind paying for things like other characters and cosmetics to help the devs, but when you wait till I hit a level cap to tell me I will now get less experience, or I cant use certain items until I try to equip them, then that is where the problems lies.
