I dont feel like writing a long review but every Trails game is awesome for multiple reasons. I'd say its as good as the Mass Effect Trilogy.

Finally a dark fantasy that doesn't shy away from controversial topics like racism, prejudice, and how blind faith in religion can distort you into extremism. Best yet, it doesn't feel forced like other obvious politically motivated games that shove their ideologies down your throat. The world building is spectacular. Character's are great. Combat is difficult (I kinda dont like how difficult on normal it is). The OST is masterfully done. Another banger title by Atlus. Course there's some things that should be improved story wise, but its still an awesome game.

I LOVE this game, but I just researched the nProtect GameGuard rootkit anti cheat and how terrible it is. It's literally a malware rootkit configured to monitor for cheats (and potentially send data to the company that made nProtect). nProtect GameGuard is also known to run even when the game isn't being played, so it makes you wonder if its recording your data and sending it out. It's also notoriously difficult to remove it from your system since it literally modifies and adds things to the Windows Registry. There is a forum here full of details on user experiences with nProtect and its BAD, like one person had to do a system wipe because it broke his Operating System.

This happened because of the anti cheat essentially giving itself Root 0 (Kernal) access to your PC, basically its a super administrator and it can change and monitor ANYTHING in your system's software and hardware. You on the other hand have at most Root 2 permissions as a user, not even admin permissions which is Root 1. There's also the privacy concern as well as extremely dangerous security holes opened up because of nProtect GameGuard. Hackers have a dangerous advantage in this situation and gain complete control of your system if they managed to exploit your system.

Arrowhead Game Studio if your reading this, please consider an anti cheat that doesn't run with Kernal 0 access. I don't trust a 3rd party having extreme access to my computer to potentially send or change data, just me using Microsoft Windows is bad enough for privacy.

For now I won't be playing this game on my bare metal system. I'm going to try Virtual Machine gaming lol. Too much problems to solve with many uncertainty with VM Gaming. I cant be away from the game, its just too fun, so I just backed everything up and will be monitoring voltage and temps in case nProtect tampers with those settings. I will delete this review when they have removed this destructive anti cheat malware.

So far, the game is great. I didn't have any technical hiccups or what not. The characters are likable. The combat is fun as hell. Just so you know, the combat gets more better when you spec into the brain map to open more character action options. Also my favorite part is the OST of the game, its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ banger.

This game... brought me to tears. I am proud to say this is my absolute favorite game. Everything I felt, with the characters, the lore, the story is amazing. This... I cannot even begin to explain how much commitment I have with this franchise. If you are reading this, it is an absolute must to play Trails in the Sky and the beginning of Trails of Cold Steel. I haven't played Trails in the Sky before the first Trails of Cold Steel and I am regretting it. This is a game that demands EVERY SECOND OF YOUR TIME AND IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY. I am eagerly awaiting Trails of Cold Steel 4 and the 5th game as well. Developers of Nihon Falcom, The Legend of Heroes series are a masterpiece in my eyes. I have never seen such a fantastically long running franchise that is in the same universe for the past decade. I hope to tell you guys that the games your are striving to make made an impact to me, it is clear you love the lore and the characters of this universe. Thank you for reading and I am eager to to see the Beginning of the End and... The End of the Beginning.

I recommend this. It's my first Visual Novel that I bought and its very great. The thing that annoying me though is the time skips and I wish there was more side chats with other people and/or more events where the main protags do more fun things together. Other than that its a really great game!
