Was going to finish this because I like to 100% things even if they're hot garbage, but this was just too boring and I kind of stopped caring.

The TL;DR is that it's boring, repetitive, unrewarding and feels soulless like AI made it, except it was supposedly made by people. Your average unreal engine asset flip sim game that Devolver Digital somehow got onboard with.

It's extremely repetitive even with the new tools they give you, not much changes, it just adds to the laundry list that slows down game progression.

Side stories don't really seem to matter. Some give you money I guess, but not all do and some even punish you if you go out of your way to complete them. The characters look like your typical unreal engine asset flips, have one of three or four voices and dialog so plainly written you generally don't care about them in the slightest. Pretty much every day you'll see a content creator they'd added to the game as a thank you that 9 times out of 10 are infected. Again, they don't add anything meaningful to the game besides being a thank you from the devs, except there's so many you get 1-2 each day and any remaining immersion is gone at that point when they say things completely deadpan and out of place for the game. No option to turn them off is also kind of a drag.

Lots of bugs, tools clipping into the table making it hard to grab them, rats you're meant to kill going through walls and objects, symptoms rarely overlapping each other making it difficult or impossible to see what they are, zombies that eventually spawn in your base without warning that sometimes spawn in facing the ground and can't move, or get stuck in doors so they infinitely make an annoying banging noise, the flashlight making things darker if you crouch, and so on.

The game itself doesn't feel rewarding. I couldn't really remember myself doing anything and feeling any sense of accomplishment or joy from doing it, it lacks any kind of challenge or meaningfulness.

The dialog is kind of weird, like it was written by AI but the devs swear they're people. Sometimes certain word choices don't seem natural or what you'd typically hear someone say. It kind of takes even more out of the game because of how empty and lazy it feels, but it could be a language barrier thing with whoever did the reading/writing for it.

The devs have admitted to using AI in the past for the game, saying "the use of AI for voice was a choice to speed up the development process before the upcoming release of the demo, otherwise our team would need to wait much longer to prepare builds with proper voice acting. But it doesn't mean we gonna keep the AI voices. As a matter of fact, with rare exceptions, the upcoming May 22nd demo will have close to 0 voice AI and we are gonna try to get rid of AI entirely for the full release in September". Which is strange because again, it feels very much like AI and there's no disclosure.

The choice of random intermittent goofiness didn't really land either. They throw in weird jokes out of the blue with zero build up, which are likely references, but they seem extremely out of place and the jokes don't really land because of it.

I dunno, there's not really any positives I can think of other than I guess it managed to distract me for 11 hours, 2 or 3 probably being me repeating the same days over and over. I really wouldn't recommend it even on sale unless you're desperate for something to play.

The only value this has is when it's cheaper to buy this for the 2,500 aquilas than it is to purchase it in the in-game store. That said, a lot of the bundles coming out for a single class are over 2,500 so you still stand to spend even more money to buy one of those.

Worse in almost every way compared to the first one. Dialog and voice overs feel like they were done completely with AI, the NPC AI is somehow worse and the amount of frustrating bugs is insane for how long the game's been out. Overall it just felt like the devs saw the success of the first game and tried to cash in by making an unpolished, low effort sequel. The only positive thing I can say about this game is they added various items to knock NPC's out making some areas feel like less of a slog.

Just buy the first one game if you haven't played that, I'm sure it's cheaper and the quality is there. Pick this up if it's on sale for like $5, otherwise I'd pass on it until then.

Very good game, with the devs still supporting it with updates and new content :)

A fun game to mess around in for a few hours, solo or with friends. I have some gripes with it, but even with those in mind I still think it's worth playing.

Everything is static and isn't randomized each playthrough in any way so maps become stale kind of quickly. A lot of the upgrades and fun things are locked behind levels, which becomes more tedious as you go. Most of the missions can be completed in about 5 minutes solo once you realize what you're meant to be doing, but only reward roughly 1/3 of a level so you don't get to experience the "fun" or upgraded things unless you really want to grind for them.

Also at the time of this review 3 of the 8 playable maps are locked behind a $5 payment ($5 each map) which is pretty steep given the amount of content there is for the game and the fact that that's almost half of the playable maps.

The game became a bogged down mess of incredibly in your face predatory and deceptive microtransactions and poor egotistical developer attitude. While it's fun to play even without spending money, there are better "free" games to play and support or even paid games that will still probably cost you less than this if you get baited into spending money on it.

With more playtime I'd still recommend this game. The game steadily gets big updates for a live service game (about every 3 months) and usually with an event somewhere in between. That said the gameplay/end game loop's gotten pretty boring even a few hours after the big updates.
