I never liked turn based combat and JRPGs in general so I was not interested at first but still gave it a try. Ended up placing it as one of my favorite games ever.
Only thing I hate about this game is that I'll never be able to experience it for the first time again.

Btw I noticed that the achievement for completing the story has been obtained by around 40% of the players 2 months after release. If you pay attention to those numbers, you'll know how huge that is.

Not for everyone, as it is very story heavy and can be really challenging at times (I almost broke a controller thanks to Sigrun, this is the first time in a dozen years of gaming it happens). Also semi-open with lots of areas to explore but mostly corridors. Doesn't really matter though as the world is so beautifully crafted you can still easily get lost in it.
I'd say if you like challenging games (I didn't play in the easiest setting so don't know how easy it can get), if you can enjoy a interesting story with lots of unknown elements that you discover throughout the game (or not...), and if you like to explore every corner available : this game is a strong buy. Otherwise, if you lack even one of those points, I don't think you'll enjoy it enough to make it worth your time and money.

PC-wise it runs really good (~ 70-80 fps) in overall high settings WITHOUT DLSS on a 2070 SUPER / Ryzen 3700X / 32GB RAM (basically 5 y/o pc). So don't be too worried on that end.

Looking through all the DLCs available, I wasn't able to find a "better performance DLC". When does it come out ?

For those waiting for performance reviews, I got a 2070 super / Ryzen 7 3700x and I achieve 70 to 90 fps in 1080p with the "High" preset (only disabled blur, depth of field and I don't use upscaling methods so no DLSS) depending on the area.
So I'd say it's pretty good :)

I had no idea this game existed, then it came out on steam and thought I would try it. Almost 40 hours later, I wish I could just forget everything and discover this game once more.
While the story didn't really shine for me, the exploration aspect is really well done. You just take your car, go somewhere, discover things and get out with your loot. Simple but very effective concept for me with a bit of "difficulty" from time limits in every map you go through so it the game doesn't get too boring.
And the visuals/musics really suit the universe (and the fog is so gorgeous with the light diffusion).
One thing I would point out though, this game isn't for people who like story-driven games. Or people who don't like looting cause you'll do a whole lot of that.

Early Access Review
Set foot on an island, capture random people living there, make them work for you and grow their own food (when most of it is for you ofc), butcher the useless ones and create settlements deeper and deeper into the world. 10/10 colonization simulator.

Outstanding amount of content ... and no paid DLCs. Don't know what surprised me the most.

Basically Skyrim but in space and with more features.

-Seems to have very good longevity, and not filled with stupid "fed-ex" quests. Not one quest I've done made me feel bored so that's nice.
-Visually the game is almost stunning at times, even on medium-low settings.
-Animations and characters are mostly bad but it's never been Bethesda's strongest argument. Although voice acting's really good.
-The map size is decent, maybe should've been a bit smaller to compensate for the lack of hand crafted environments but it's still fun to roam around and explore planets so it's all good.

Overall it's a great game, one of the rare good releases of this year. I wouldn't buy it eyes closed though, as not eveyone enjoys the freedom that the game gives, not everyone enjoys dialogue based games and some others will find themselves overwhelmed by all the loot (at lvl 1 your inventory will be full of crap in a single room that you loot).

Only big complaint I have is that this game requires an RTX 4XXX with DLSS Frame Generation to run well (100fps +) with a good quality (4k in high-ultra settings). Not a good thing for the future if games keep relying so much on AI techs to compensate for bad optimization ...

Pro tip : Create a character that looks old, take the kid stuff trait and go see your parents.
