This game is a hidden gem.

I instantly fell in love with the atmosphere and style, and although the gameplay is a little grindy during the first playthrough, it feels incredibly rewarding if you do decide to stick by.
The game is extremely fun, the music is fantastic, and the art is absolutely GORE-geous. It also has plenty of additional content to go through!

The only problem that I have is the mapping. It quickly becomes very confusing as doors often drop off the player in totally different sections of the next room.
For example, you'd go through a door to your right (East), and you enter the new location from below (South).

That being said, I strongly recommend giving Shrouded in Sanity a try.

Horrifyingly accurate and relatable.

Money and time well spent.

Newbie to the Metal Gear franchise here! Pretty much the first and last MG game I'll play (came here for the cyborg booty).

The story is really engaging and even made me question some stuff here and there about morals and whatnot, which- props to the writers for that! The gameplay is nice, though if you have a keyboard you're screwed. I had to buy a controller to play this without pulling my hair out.
The world and characters are believable, and, strangely enough, I enjoyed getting beat the hell up! Being an invincible "hero" isn't really that fun, so MGR:R was a breath of fresh air in this regard.

Also 99% of what comes out of Raiden's mouth is so over the top and cheesy that it's high-key entertaining! The other 1% is midlife crisis inducing. Awesome character.

Conclusion? If you like fast-paced action, a healthy dose of violence and gore, cheesy one-liners, (maybe) a midlife crisis, and robot doggo, then I recommend you try this game out. It's super entertaining and an enjoyable time-sink.

(Play it with a controller if you don't want to break your fingers).

Fun but the colors sometimes confuse the hell out of me.
