I have seen so many people claim that this game is amazing in every way. Sadly, i vehemently disagree. I think Black Mesa is WAY too "unpolished" for lack of a better term to even be considered good. As a fan of OG Half Life, although i learned to understand more about that game and how rudimentary it is, it still remains my one of my favorite games out there, so i am extremely dissapointed with this version.

Don't get me wrong, it's cool Valve let a bunch of fans remake their first project but the truth is that these people didn't understand lots of Half Life. A bunch of things didn't need to be changed, cut, etc.

Let's start with the guns, the SMG is litteraly useless. Does so little damage that i have to fire it like a pistol to even kill things. Also the sound effects for when you fire some of these weapons, im also not a big fan of, for example the rocket launcher. It sounds like i'm shooting thick bottles instead of a rocket.

They also screwed over some enemies like the bullsquid. I remember that you could sneak past them in the original. And that they would chase you if you were near them. Doesn't happen here. You can't sneak past bullsquids because they will always know you are there and they don't even run at you. You have to run at them for them to use their tail. I also fail to understand the need to add subspecies of Houndeyes, enemy variety was not really a problem in the OG game. They also made the soldiers move, which i kinda like since it changes the old encounters in a new and simple way, but i do feel like they move a lot and talk too much. I wish for them to just shut up. Also they made the section where the ninja girls are introduced a bit too big for how there aren't much enemies out there. The ninja girls are also still criminally underused just like the OG.

Music is nice although there were plenty of times where i thought the music did not fit the scene. The OST also makes XEN feel ethereal in a way which i'm not a fan. XEN needed to be more alien instead of this breathtaking universe that's beyond the world. It looks beautiful but i'm not sure XEN needs beautiful.
And it certainly didn't need to be as long as it is. The worst part about OG Half Life is 4 times longer in the fan remake. Not sure what the thought process was happening when you guys developed these chapters. They even felt the need to give you unlimited ammo in Interloper. Clear example of the devs not being confident on what they created so they give you cheats legally. Speaking of levels, i like how they took the chapters that nobody liked in Half Life and just did nothing to spice them up. 50% of On a rail got cut for no reason. I didn't really like the chapter in the original because it wasn't really that fun to play through. So your mission is to streamline the chapter and make it fun but nope. Residue Processing is also quite litteraly the same as the OG. Everything bad about that chapter is still present here, the game just looks pretty. Also they fu c ke d Power Up so badly that it sucks a ss.

Also why the f uc k does the brightness slider work backwards?! You would think if the value was higher the brighter the game but it works in the complete opposite way. I had to play the game blind as bat for the first few chapters that had a miniscule of darkness because devs don't know how to program a brightness slider properly.

Also also the game can be pretty buggy sometimes. And what the hell are those achievements? Half Life 1 is not built to carry an item for the whole game (although neither was HL 2 EP 2 but atleast it wasn't that much of a hassle).

It's not that i hate this game, i think it has a couple of good things. I enjoyed meeting Kleiner and Eli again although Eli being here makes no sense, it contradicts what he says to us during HL 2 EP 2.

This game is such a fever dream in a good way. It was pretty confusing understanding how the game worked at the beggining but overtime it became a pretty enjoyable experience that has lots of content despite its short play time.

An amazing psychological horror game that subverts expectations in the best way possible! While the game itself isn't scary, it is very unsettling.

Would bang Yuri.

Pretty good game that has nice graphics, fun gameplay, decent platforming, great OST, a crap ton of items to buy in the shop etc.

Don't really like how grindy the achievements are. The story itself feels like an afterthought, it is okay. I appreciate the accessibility for people who may have never played these types of games/aren't that good at in the form of "story" difficulty.

{SPOILERS HERE!!}
Ace Attorney Investigations Collection is an excellent compilation featuring two games that share the same name. You get every quality of life change you would expect at this point.

Despite that, i still choose to give this a thumbs down. Doesn't mean i think these games are downright bad, i think the games are.... alllllright. I still would recommend one playthrough like always.

Ace Attorney Investigations - The first game and honestly i was pretty surprised at how much i enjoyed this. You can walk now which is cool but really it's a cursor disguised in a different manner. The cases in this game while simple when you think about it, offer more mistery than the sequel and overall are more fun despite the simplicity (minus case 5). The cases in this game are also pretty good, we have a great tutorial case, case 2 is easy sure but a lot of fun to play through, case 3 is apparently the worst case in this game even though it's actually pretty good, case 4 is amazing and case 5 is just sooo good!

The new characters here like Kay Faraday and Shi Long Lang are also pretty good. Shout out to Tyrell Badd my goat. Special thanks to Callisto Yew for being the craziest woman i have ever seen in this series. And honorary mentions for Byrne Faraday for existing and giving us Kay to the world. And the culprits are also pretty fun to interact and catch: Jacques Sportsman my goat, Cammy Meele did not deserve to be a culprit, Lance Amano is a bit lame but still decent, i already explained Callisto Yew and Quercus Alba might be my favorite final villain for oh so many reasons.

The Ost is also very fitting for Edgeworth in general and it's such a vibe. Also the addition of Presto makes Confrontation pretty intense.

Ace Attorney Investigations 2 - Apparently this is regarded as the best AA game in the franchise. I beg to differ. This is your goat?
This game is way too fricking bloated for its own good. The pacing is abhorrent. Cases are way too long (except Case 4). A lot of characters are hit or miss. OST feels misused a lot of times. They also forget about Logic and Deduction at times (especially Deduction) which is so cringe.

Case 1 is just garbage, litteraly a photograph makes half of the case meaningless. Why not have us start inside the plane directly? Case 2 gets good like right near the end and even then it's not as good as people made it out to be. Case 3 is fine. I wish they would have commited a bit more to the flashback and have us see the actual trial itself without someone basically glancing over it. Case 4 has a strong start but goes sicko mode in the second half (not the good kind). Case 5 is, honestly, a bit all over the place.

Characters here are also hit or miss. We have our regulars like D#ck Gumshoe who is surprinsingly more competent in this game out of nowhere, was pretty cool to see him like this; Kay Faraday has no reason to be in this game until Case 4, she is so irrelevant. Eddie Fender is supposed to be important yet does nothing the whole game (well save for that one trial in case 5). Even in Case 3 the case that's supposed to be his big moment kinda, he is overshadowed by the GOAT TYRELL BADD. Eustace Winner is a basic brat kid with a pretty basic and predictable character development. It's not bad but i don't see the hype/appeal. Verity Gavelle could have been a great character if the writers or writer was competent enough because the way she is written is so repetitive. Then they suddenly forget that she also needs a character arc so they just make up a kid that is actually "her son". Shaun Fenn exists to be a plot device and force an arc out of Verity (although the kid knows how to argue).

Culprits are also a bit boring: Bronco Knight is fairly entertaining, Fifi Laguarde is boring, Carmelo Gusto is decent, Excelsius Winner is actually goated for being a such a d#ck and Simeon Saint has a lame plot twist (he is the only one that could have done it) and after that he is like pretty generic.

Music is still good albeit a bit misused most of the times.

What a cute little game!

The game itself is really interesting, the pixel art is lovely, the music is pretty good, the plot twist is honestly shocking. And the True Ending made my heart melt. I felt really bad for Lilly getting all those Dead Ends...

And i'm happy to know that she gets a happy ending in the end. Also 100% the achievements in this one is very enjoyable!

Despite giving this a negative score, i would still recommend at the very least one playthrough of each game. That being said, the games in this collection are so sub par with the rest of the series that it would make people who played the original trilogy (and the other collections), a BIG FRICKING MIGRAINE.

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney is the first game in this collection and it is the best one here simply because it's the last time Shu Takumi wrote a mainline Ace Attorney game (and the next games in this collection show just as much). While it is the shortest one here, i will say i had more fun playing the cases in this one than the other cases in the other games. A new cast of characters which are excellent in my opinion, and as for the cases themselves: Case 1 was excellent, Case 2 had fun investigation segments and some fun trial moments, Case 3 is takes logic and throws it out the window (i get the implications but... like... rly?), Case 4 while not the best finale out there, it is a very decent one at that.

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies is the game where they brought Phoenix back and it's not a bad idea at first glance until you realize they reversed his character development from Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney back to Phoenix from the first trilogy. This is also the first "3D game" and games like The Great Ace Attorney and Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright showcased the 3D really well, so there is some potential here. However, the 3D here is just to be there. They don't really do any fun stuff with it like the examples i mentioned. The new characters here look pretty good however returning characters look HORRIBLE. And not to mention the returning characters here get MISCHARACTERIZED HARD! (or simply they didn't understand the character). As for the cases themselves, they get too handhold-y many times and for a game where you have to THINK, this is the worst thing you can ever do.

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice is pretty much the same as Dual Destinies in terms of problems but it's not as bad as Dual Destinies.

Honestly, i am dissapointed...

To be honest, i kind of stumble upon this game. Steam just recommended me this game under a section (that i can't remember). My god, is this game pretty good.

For the most part it's a RPG horror game where it can feel like a walking simulator. Not a whole lot is happening. The idea behind it is pretty neat and creative. The fact that rituals in this world are kind of common and a trend among teenagers is pretty funny to think about.

There is some section regarding gameplay that do make this a far from a glorified walking simulator. Like dodging spikes. The final boss fight is pretty damn difficult which makes me very happy that there is a skip button for the people who have a skill issue or just hate difficult obstacles. In fact you can skip lots of section in the game if its too much for you. I apreciate the thought.

The characters are very likeable! These characters are well written and they serve to do their job pretty well! Miss Knives story was quite tragic. I kinda felt bad for her by the end.

The music is fantastic for an indie(?) game! The fact that this game is free is a crime. I would gladly pay atleast 3 euros for this experience.

The achievements were... pretty interesting. It made my second playthrough much more interesting! And 100% this game was quite fun. The Bucket achievement was funny!

Overall, i would rate this game a 8/10.

What a masterpiece of a game. The greatest story i have ever seen, the greatest characters i have ever been introduced to, the greatest cases i have ever played in my entire life as an Ace Attorney fan.

A collection of just two games featuring 10 cases and not one of them is mediocre at all. In fact all of them are great! Even the tutorial cases! The added features to the Trial and Investigation segments are a breath of fresh air when it comes to mechanics in Ace Attorney!

I have seen some reviews saying that the game is very long which is not true at all. I have 100% Phoenix Wright Trilogy and it took me almost 70 hours to do so and thats playing the game and getting every achievement at the same time, meanwhile i did the same thing here and completed it in less time, almost 68 hours. Of course for a full 100% i need to do the Escapades aswell but either way, either the people complaining have a skill issue or.... the people complaining have a skill issue.

As for the story, you MUST experience this. The most satisfying story i have ever seen. These two games can be seen as one giant story and not separate entries.

Overall, if you have never played this game before and you are an Ace Attorney fan then it's a MUST OWN game. If you haven't heard of Ace Attorney then i suggest to start with the Phoenix Wright trilogy because that contains the first 3 games of this franchise.
