I sincerely wanted this to succeed so bad but in good faith as someone who has played the series since MH4U, I cannot recommend this game.

The biggest glaring issues with this game are:

-Conflicting Game Design
Biggest example is the amount of effort put into the environments and then just using the Seikret to ignore all of the effort and go right to the hunt. I truly wish they would just strike a balance between being able to track the monster and having a palamute system where you just free roam to get to your monster than just autopiloting.
Another example is being able to switch weapons during the hunt. While this sounds like a good idea on paper, it’s incredibly unoptimal to do so and really you’re just limited to using the same weapon type but a different variant because you balance your armor around your weapon type. If they also had it where your armor would change as you change your weapon as well, that would work way better.
There are many more examples of this conflicting game design that I won’t bother to list the rest of the examples.

-Optimization
I don’t think I have to even elaborate on this, I’d just be contributing to the echo chamber at this point.

-Difficulty
Yes world and rise was easy in base game but as title updates and master rank came along, I could feel a lot more tension in my fights. For this? Even with TUs I still feel no tension at all. Having the fights just lasting less than 10 mins does not feel satisfying for me.

To be honest, I don’t even have hope the DLC expansion will fix a lot of the fundamental issues I have with this game. This is just a straight up downgrade in gameplay for me and I an hoping the B team in monster hunter that made Rise is cooking something better.

This game falls in the same roguelike category like the spelunky games where you lose a run in the most unfortunate way, want to bash your monitor with your fist, take a minute break, then replay it. Incredible game with tons of secrets although these secrets are very hard to access without certain spells.

Game is fun but you will get whooped online.
