I really hate this game. No manual shifting, and not a lot to do with drifting.

Calling this "Star *DERBY* Evolution" would be more appropriate.

After discussing with the devs on the Steam forums, it's clear they want to make a multiplayer experience. They claim they omitted MT because it was advantageous to skilled players, and they wanted to keep the competition tighter. (paraphrasing)

I don't care about competition and multiplayer, I just want to have fun driving cute cars around fun tracks.

This has cute cars and fun tracks, but the cars are *not fun* to drive. I can't get them to drop gears, no matter how much braking or reverse-gear I use. Sometimes the car will just barrel roll for no good reason (some kind of game mechanic in the air). It's extremely frustrating to simply control the car the way I want to.

It's as if they wanted to make a simple racer, maybe like the Codemasters Micro Machines games, but forgot to put in all the fun parts, like boosts and power ups.

Playing this just makes me want to play Ironman Ivan's Off-Road. That game is over 30 years old and still more fun to play.

This game sucks.

Early Access Review
Interesting take on the VR world experience. Extremely difficult to get-going--the game seems to expect you to have some experience in game development. The community seems very elitist and unwelcome to criticism, "drink the kool-aid or GTFO" kind of attitude. Enjoy the drinks, byee~! ♥

Calling something the "Ultimate Edition" and then creating TWO SEASONS of content afterward is really scummy.

Locking significant combo chains behind those last two Seasons for characters that are INCLUDED IN THE BASE GAME is also really scummy.

I feel like I paid for an advertisement.

Early Access Review
Wow! One of the freshest games I've played in a while.

Lots of planning and plotting, then kinda a race to complete objectives. The mission solutions feel open-ended, but I'm not sure every mission can be completed 100% in different ways--some are very tight timings, but that didn't stop me from creatively failing just a moment too short.

There's also a few oddball missions now and then to break the monotony (not that I would mind repeating the same formula, honestly). Even in Early Access, this game feels quite full already. And, after completing the game, there's a message about a free part two update! Fannntastic!

I can't say enough good things about this game! ♥ Highly recommended!

My refund has been refused multiple times, so I keep trying to play this. I really want to like this, but the bugs only seem to increase over time. The last time I tried to play, there were upside-down cars completely blocking the first highway in the game. After reset, problems continued when my tires suddenly disappeared after removing each, and the store would not let me buy anything, thus locking my game. Even if the game worked, it's only like 8 cities or something? I can't get further than 3rd or 4th city before my game is completely unplayable from these soft-locks. On a brighter side, the game used to crash at random and that doesn't seem to happen any more--progress?

Whatever millions were spent on this game wasn't worth the experience, but I read their investors are happy! ♥

The GTA series has been rough for a while, and this one's actually a good kick in the right direction. The world is vibrant, animations and car mechanics are fluid, and the 3-character dynamic was a nice breath of air. The story is meh; I'm still crawling through it and I only like one of the 3 characters--but the stories aren't why I play GTA. The cloud-save feature is nice! I love that I don't have to manage my savefiles offline! I wish the cops' AI was more similar to IV, but I like the new AI too--they just seem less intelligent. The the new cop-ditching system is fun--ducking in cars or hiding in bushes is cool. Ignoring story, I like this GTA a lot as a sandbox for havoc.

The multiplayer is wretched. I don't think I've had a single good experience online, and I'm afraid that's where most of Rockstar's focus is. I don't want to lobby with other players, and missions are multi-player only. So why play online? There is game-content I'd like to access (flying motorbike, extra missions for example) that is locked away in a dysfunctional network.

Network aside, I'm constantly being hounded to buy $multi-million ventures over the phone, every few minutes--ventures I can't afford... every few minutes. Missions reward you with about $10-15k on success, take 5-10 minutes to complete, and are surrounded by at least 5 minutes of loading on each end of the event--excluding any several-minute cutscenes a player hasn't seen yet. So in total, I'm making about $1k per minute, *at best*. I'm sure there are more lucrative ways to make cash, but at this rate I'm just staring at a mountain of work I don't want to deal with because the whole experience is a slow-paced aggravation. With the "success" of GTA Online, I'm willing to bet people just buy cash cards instead of earning the money--in other words, you can just buy game items with real-world money to skip.. "the game". What is this world?

Here's an example of my frustration: I had to re-play the same mission (the *first* multi-player mission, with Lamar) I don't know how many times--with the relobbying and all the loading between.. guh--if you really want to include all of that: It probably took 3 hours to complete this one, simple mission. It was just a few drive-bys, but with four players, one would die and leave the lobby, forcing a reset. What a terrible experience.

$17 is ludicrous--get it in a bundle for $3 or something.

I'm all for the "hypocritical racing game" where you should be trying to destroy your opponents rather than course every lap, but this falls way short in that. I grew up with the originals and this does give some nostalgia to it, but not in a great way.

This game feels like a DOS game made in 2016; very rough around the edges and something you need to study in order to play correctly, but looks shiny and has modern physics. Exploring doesn't feel rewarding and destroying opponents feels tedious. Not-racing is less fun than actually racing, and the racing in this game isn't fun (by design?)!

This game is far from intuitive and will leave you sore, but it does have some humor to it. About $2-worth of humor, max. For this game, I'd say the pony with the best trick is slaughtering pedestrians--and any 3D GTA will give you fields more entertainment in that regard.

This game leaves me unsatisfied and wanting.

Solid speedrunner with some hardcore FPS elements.

Really great level designs; paths to objectives and placement of game elements are well thought-out!
