Genuinely the most fun game I've played in years.

It is truly a love letter to all things cards.

Great game, Great story.

Sound design is amazing. Visuals are stunning.

There's a couple beats where a camera move is cleverly hiding something before a reveal, that type of blocking is super creative and nice to see.

A fine addition to the strange life.

>>Introduction

The Payday 2 Revival, another Cash Controversy.

Assuming they broke the Ultimate Edition promise to gather funds for Payday 3, I see this as a completely acceptable move after recent game failures. While you shouldn't make promises you can't keep, Overkill doesn't have much of a choice. If I had to choose between OVK having to shutdown development and us likely never seeing PD3, and breaking Ultimate edition to add more paid DLC, I would still prefer the latter.

Story-Wise it is tied in with the current ending taking place before. Tasteful implementation is important when an ending is already established.

>>Border Crossing Heist

A fresh take on Day 1 of Big Oil. Essentially a remix of it. This day is pretty fun to run through in stealth quickly memorizing all of the possible codes.

Part 2 is where things get more difficult. A massive airfield with admittedly borrowed assets from other heists. However they are mashed together in such a way that is refreshing and new. The core parts of the stealth are like if you combined day 2 Election day with Day 1 Firestarter. It can be fairly challenging to run through without a saw, or solo with the bag requirement so high on upper difficulties.

Overall a fun heist in stealth, however the bag moving can be tedious with the capture so far away.

>>Border Crystals

Instead of visiting the biker gang, We start straight in the air field for a remix of Cook Off with our ingredients in the trucks this time around requiring you to run from truck to truck for a full restock.

Cooking moves faster than standard Rats or Cook Off, with 2 players you can trade cooking and gathering ingredients and almost time it to where once one is done scavenging and capping their bag, they will be ready to trade the cook responsibilities.

Heist has a big spawn problem, the giant airfield is flowing with cops usually. Snipers have pretty good coverage, but I would not define it as "Sniper-Hell." The snipers are plenty reasonable if you peak them to take them out before moving bags. Spawn rates need tweaked as during my 25 Meth Bag run on OVK I had an over 1,200 body count while the other 3 players were participating in fire fights actively.

Overall, a fun Cook Off remix. Needs optimized for higher difficulties, I was dropping to 15 frames during DSOD runs from a usual 80.

>>Final Thoughts

The big controversy in this DLC is taking away the "Future DLC's will be Free" promise while using recycled assets. As I pointed out above I would much rather them create content to keep their heads above water over losing the possibility of PD3 entirely. In terms of the reused assets, in my opinion they were reused in such a way that kept things fresh. While you can tell "Oh, this is an Election Day Building" it plays completely different from Election Day.

I do agree that I hope for less reused assets for future releases, I have no problem with them recycling assets for new content as long as it is done with the purpose of engaging the player in new ideas and situations, and not purely from a "Milk the game dry" standpoint.

As far as the weapon mod DLC, I don't personally use any items from those usually, so its not far off par.

But the outfit release was a very requested feature that I very much enjoy.

I look forward to new content.

Thanks for reading!

A must play for completionists. The main game may be easyish, but if you are going to 100%, have mercy on your soul.

I wish to judge this DLC from all the angles I can cover to give it a fair rating.

First off, lets look at this as just a heist that just so happens to involve goats. This heist is a 2 Day heist, which is unusual for DLC heists.

The first day starts you in a city, where you have to find a certain amount of goats hidden different places, these places work as all loot does, There are certain areas in the map where there must be a goat, but some other areas where the games picks and chooses, without a doubt, you will have to travel all over town to find all the goats. You MUST get all the goats, no optional loot here. This day on Deathwish can be considered the hardest yet, considering you start out in a crowded area with lots of regular guards. (Low defense and Armor, Ludicrous damage on DW.) Also, let me give you a tip, since civilians don't really seem to stay long in this heist, running over a bunch of guards and civilians in the beginning does not penalize you for the civilians death. This hide in seek endevour can be quite tedious, especially on harder difficulty where you can hardly afford to move. I love the challenge of the day, however it is very to lag out in the beginning .

Day 2: So this is one I got the realization with that opening "cutscene" These goats are smuggling cocaine in their butts.
So, naturally you will need some lube, which is rather appropriate, because if you don't have a good driver... YOU WILL GET..... RAMMED. ;3 (get it, goats.. Either way, you're going to have a bahahahad time.) Its pretty much a Go Bank defense, which I liked being revived in this heist, instead of having a limited time to get through a sewer, you must secure all of them. Meaning one by one if you have to. (Also, I just love having the pilot to antagonize and complain about.) After being bombarded on the country road by explosive barrels and hard turns, you reach a checkpoint ,in which you need to wait out a drill, and wait for the bridge to turn so you can get across. After that you drive into the truck, and that's it.

Other viewpoints: A lot of people believe that Overkill is just getting greedy with all these heists, trying to get a PAYDAY of their own.(guess it really gets your GOAT..huh?) I can understand their viewpoint, also, I agree when I heard about the Goat Sim heist, I died a little.

However... The way I see it, Overkill has being making enjoyable heists lately, and as long as they keep giving us good heists, I see no problem with it. I found this particular heist very fun for its difficulty, and how much it strayed from the regular path of Payday 2.

This game has been a part of my life for a while now. Its... difficult to see it be abandoned by the developers. Botting has been an issue for days, turned to weeks, to months, and now years.

I can't even remember the last game I played that was bot free.

I will return the positive review, and maybe even play again once this game is given any attention.
