Listening devs, frequent updates and followups, devs being extremely accepting to community content (Mods and third party stuff).
Simple gameplay yet has a level of depth for mastery, resulting in endless hours of customization and fun.
Beautiful music weaving into every part of the game.
What more could you ask for?

The graphics, effects and lighting were updated in a way which allowed the game to keep the atmosphere of the original game. I think that the map updates smoothed out the pacing of the story too.

I had an amazing time replaying this masterpiece which was one of my favourite games since young.
Ib perfectly shows the charm of RPG Maker games. I'd recommend the game for anyone who are into mysteries and eerie atmospheric horror games. Please do give the game a try.

I'll start this off by saying, I RECOMMEND this game as an entry title to Fromsoft's Souls series, as this game has a lot of QOL changes and is much more beginner friendly as it offers plenty of tools for the player to progress. But this game very blatantly shows the flaws of Fromsoft, namely being the repetitiveness of mobs and artificial difficulty.

Even though I ticked "Not Recommended" on the reviews, I cannot say that I did not enjoy this game at all. Up until the later parts of the game, I thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of finding new areas and exploring the sheer size of the world.

To put it simply, the later parts of the game was simply... disappointing. There were a lot of unpolished, mobs ramped up exponentially with artificial difficulty. I won't get deep into notorious bosses like Malenia since the majority of the community has already said enough.

Though, I honestly think Malenia was the least of the disappointment I had with late game.
I really really liked the Midir fight from Dark Souls 3, so I was looking forward to fighting huge, violent, savage dragons in this game. But aside from the designs being pretty cool, the fights turn out to be boring. You expect me to enjoy whacking this fat lizard's bum while it just sits there getting stuck on its wheelchair, missing 80% of its attacks? I'm mainly talking about Placidusax. There isn't any back and forth like Midir had. It's just a "Wait for opening" fight.

I have a lot more about this game that I don't like, but it mostly boiled down to just late game being too underwhelming when compared to the content from the first half. The late game fights I enjoyed were only Maliketh and Godfrey. The rest felt like a chore to play, and the game lost its charm quite quickly.

My silenced pistol doesn't feel really stealthy when there's a volley of rockets and lasers following the shot lol
Cool and unique mechanics. The reload, magazine jamming and heat management add an interesting layer of complexity.
Only complaints I have are that the UI and overall tint makes the game not so friendly for the eyes when playing for a long time.
Other than that, great game. It's pretty cheap on a sale, definitely worth it for a few hours of fun.

Nice paywall for playing with friends. Load times are also tedious.

NOT RECOMMEND FOR NOW.
The dev seems to care more about the hentais of the characters than actual updates of the game. Check their official twitter, there are barely any updates about gameplay.

---------------------

This game is a good example of an amazing RPG. For a game this size, its combat system is really well fleshed out. At the time of writing this review I have unlocked all achievements except one that requires NG+3, won't be long till I finish it. Note that I played the game in Chinese so there might be some difference in vocabulary.

First, the stages and puzzles are decently designed and I especially like the moving platform puzzle at the lava lake a lot. I won't say much about the lack of mob variety for now since it's still in early access. The really memorable parts are Tania's boss room, which the dolls in the background really fits her atmosphere and theme; and the moving platform area, which felt like a Rambo one man army scene with bullets flying from all directions.

Second, the bosses are easily the best part of the game. I don't have much complaints about them, pretty much all their attacks are well choreographed and balanced... except for Monika's Phase 1 mini fireball pokes. These lingering ranged attacks create a situation where if you had to dodge them, you might get roll-caught by the boss. It's really frustrating when that happens. I have one more problem with the bosses which I'll get into in the combat part.

Third, the combat. The four elements that you can obtain in the playthrough are simple yet distinct enough to make you think twice before choosing which to use. The spells can be leveled up by looting their copies in treasure chests, though I find the power scaling of the spells to be really poor, but there isn't enough content in one NG run currently to make this feel really obvious, I only felt this way because I went to NG++. I've noticed some problems with three of the spells in the game.

Arcane, the spell you start with. It introduces itself as a mid-long range artillery shot, and the charged attack can be used twice starting from Level 2. It's damage falls off heavily in the end game. Two shots of Arcane charged attack has less damage than a Lighting basic attack. It's pretty disappointing considering that the two copies to max level Arcane are hidden behind puzzles that reward more observant players.

Fire, the third spell you obtain at the third stage of the game. You won't encounter any issues with this spell in a single run because you can only raise it up to level 2 in a single playthrough, you need NG+ to max it at level 3. The level 3 of Fire is pretty much a downgrade. Before level 3, the charged attack is a useful explosion that staggers enemies, but at level 3, the charged attack does a lingering combustion before exploding, which means it doesn't stagger enemies on hit anymore, making the spell totally useless because enemies can just run out of the explosion radius.

Lighting is a secret spell that you can obtain after you beat the extra stage boss. The charged attack is a lightning strike which you can aim with a circle on the floor. With the camera angle, aiming this feels quite clunky but it still gets the job done.

Here's the real problem with the lightning spell,
There's a specific interaction with the extra boss' dash double spin slash attack with the lightning spell. At normal speed, that attack can be dodged with a single roll. Having full charge lightning slows everything else, which doubles the time of that attack, and 2 rolls are needed to dodge it, but that's not the problem. When you roll dodge attacks, the game gives you mana and enter a slight slowmode, right? If your spell full charges from dodging the first attack, you'll still have to roll for a second time to dodge the second since you've entered full charge mode. Because the mana required to enter full charge won't be the same everytime, timing the second dodge is unnecessarily difficult, in addition to that the initial dodge will also slow your character. Well, counter magic is an option, but it shouldn't be the only option. And also you'll have to relearn the timing for counter magic in slowmode since only the boss is slowed yet your attack frame time still remains the same...

Counter magic is easily one of the most fun mechanics in this game, but the explanation of this mechanic in the game is quite vague and honestly a little inaccurate. It actually only activates when you're in your attack frame while the target's hitbox collides with yours. Also the interaction with full charge lightning's slowmode...

Other than the problems listed, it's a really neat indie game that I had a ton of fun playing. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves games with a difficult learning curve. The game being really cheap is also a big plus, grab this and try it out if you haven't! That concludes my review, thanks for reading.
Huh? What do you mean I haven't talked about the character designs? They're really cute, yeah... (god lolis are amazing)
Wait I hear someone knocking on my do

Edit: As of right now (19.5hrs played) I've gotten all of the current achievements! I've complained about the lightning slowmode problem but I "got gud" and my workaround was to not charge the lightning until after I dodge the attack and charge it with the airborne mana blobs. I'm not gonna say that the slowmode problem is a bug, for now I'll just assume it being a realism "your tools don't always work in your favor" thing or just an in development spell.
