Game very good.

It's a good game with a very steep learning curve. It’s not something you can pick up as a casual player, play a little bit here and there and expect much. It takes 100s of hours to learn puck control and closer to 1000 hours to be able to play the game at a “pro” level.

Community is small and niche. There are few new players at any given time so if you are new expect to get rammed in public games for your first couple 100 hours. After you have the basic controls of the game down the most reliable way to get better will be going to your region's league (SPL for NA, EUSL for EU and OSL for OCE) and play their pick up games. Once again be ready to get crushed for another couple of hundred hours. Finally once you reach 600+ hours you can start to have enough control and game sense to be able to actually feel like you can contribute. Btw play as a controller because…

For a game that has 95% of its active player base in the Leagues for competitive play it sure needs competitive balancing. Controllers have the natural advantage with 360 degree movement unlike the 8 degrees you get with a keyboard. However they also are stronger than you. . If you play KBM be prepared to play on a harder difficulty as you need to be even sharper as a player cause you don’t have the input method to save you when you make mistakes or allow you to play a play style that relies more on your input method than any type of skill.

I’ve heard the the community is “toxic” and I think it is true of you playing public games, so just mute chat and try and get to the point where you can go play pick up games. Other community concerns are simply the decline of the games player base. From averaging 300+ players a day we are now hovering just above 100 and it’s not looking like it will grow anytime soon. There is no 1 reason but bad servers, unbalanced input types and a perceived lack of attention from the Dev on issues are to my knowledge the reason why most veterans leave.

All in all if you want to dedicate 100s of hours to a declining game whose future is not looking great atm you will be whole heartedly welcomed by the community. You NEED to enjoy the small stuff like a good play, a good save, a nice goal ect. You will have a horrible experience if you go into this competitively from day 1.

Due to the unforgiving nature of the game, the game's current direction and the hardship new players have to endure. I would not recommend this for the average player. It’s a niche game, for a niche audience.
