Perfect chill yet complex game. Fun strategy math puzzle hidden beneath the great stylized flavor of history and politics. For players new to the 4X grand strategy genre, as is true with many of them, it takes a few hours of helpful tutorials to learn the basics, probably 20 hours to begin getting comfortable with intermediate features, 100 hours to play on some of the harder difficulties or learn more advanced strategies. I enjoy it more than Civ 5 and other 4X titles, but I am biased since I began with 6.

Early Access Review
One of those novelties you play for an hour or two with friends. Was made with love but if you have a limited amount of free time such as having a job, it is very tiring. I already learn the lesson of the endless punishments of capitalism in everyday life. I hope the creators benefit from this media spotlight but I can't recommend this game at $10 unless you're rich. I can recommend it at $0-5.

Solid. Growing up with Assassin's Creed and always wanting a smooth Spider-Man web-slinging experience, I was excited and worried about the smoothness of the web-slinging. It does take some precision and mastery, and even then there are hiccups, but I'd say they did really well with movement.

Same with combat. It's very quick, fitting with the character and his abilities, but they did it well. Even though it wasn't my type of combat and I do flub it often, it's solid. I got this to experience a good Spider-Man story on the screen, and do some web slinging through NYC on the side. The combat hasn't gotten in the way.

So far, collectibles and side quests/side puzzles are not intruding. I do have the compulsion to stop what I'm doing and finish a whole area, but thankfully the world doesn't feel so overloaded that I can never progress in the story.

I'm relatively early in the story, but as a casual fan of various Spider-Man media and lore from comics, other games, television and film, I definitely appreciate the direction of this adaptation.

Music and looks are fantastic. It runs smoothly on 1080p high settings my 1660Ti (full card in a laptop) with i7 9750h, 16 Gb DDR4 RAM, downloaded on an nvme SSD. When you're really, truly getting wild yoinking through the open world at the speed of sound, there are brief freezes as it loads the next area, but it's honestly not bad. The only reason it feels extra upsetting is just that the music, visuals and story come together to a really smooth and immersive experience and this is the one interrupting blip to that.

Looking at the map, I haven't been up there yet but it looks like they kinda... sank northern Harlem?

Got on sale for $45. I am typically a very, very frugal gamer and $45 is so, sooo much for me. But I think it's well, well worth it for any fans of Spider-Man AND anyone who enjoys open-world story games.
