Writing this review after completing my first play-through.

The game-play is very similar to Point-and-Click Games and there's little to no combat. Disco Elysium is all about its WORDS. Every significant event in the game, from narrative decisions to physical actions, is handled through Text Options. Some options are locked behind Checks that require a combination of appropriate Skill Points, completion of other Tasks and RNG (dice-roll like Tabletop RPGs). Don't be afraid to fail Checks since they can lead to unique situations and interactions!

Writing is S Tier but don't expect it to be spoon-fed to you. You'll have to pay close attention to the words and analyse them properly: identifying propaganda, lies, truths, sarcasm, irony, metaphors, jokes etc. (no, it's not just commie bull poop) Your primary mode of engaging with the game will be through its Words and there's a lot of it! Therefore, if you dislike Reading, you will probably have a bad time. There's a lot to read and think about, so take the game at a slow and steady pace; rushing can quickly overwhelm you. Strictly AVOID SPOILERS for the best possible experience!

9 / 10 HARDCORE!!

Before You Buy:

If you're an absolute Beginner, learn the Basics elsewhere. You will only enjoy this game once you somewhat know your way around a guitar. The "Learn A Song" mode is convoluted, using TABS is better. In short, it's NOT the best tool to LEARN the guitar or even songs (Chord Charts or TABS are more simple). DLC pricing is also horrible!

The Good:

Its FUN! Once you're used to the interface, it becomes a great game for jamming to your favourite tunes. If you're using the game to primarily HAVE FUN playing and not learning, you're going to have a good time. It might even make you play more!

PS: Real Tone Cable is not required. You can play this game if you have an Audio Interface to connect your Guitar to the PC. More details are a Google Search away.

✔️ Standard Format cards cheaper than paper Magic.

✔️ Tons of cosmetics. Why pay alimony when you can have wavy digital cards and Pets for the same price!

✔️ Alchemy. Are you still bitter over Hearthstone taking away Charge from Patches? Worry not! You can experience the same thrill of Hearthstone with Hearthstone-like...I mean "digital only" cards in this groundbreaking format.

✔️ Standard Only. Do you love having to get new cards every couple of years? Do you hate Magic's most played formats like Commander/Pioneer/Modern? Arena is for you then. No proper non-rotating format here!

✔️ Lack of basic QoL and Social features. Are you looking for some challenge to break the monotony of an easy life? Arena's terribly designed and buggy interface will definitely help you there!

Magic the Gathering is one of the Collectable Card Games of all time. MTG: Arena is a Standard Format simulator at a cheaper price than paper. If you want anything else, look elsewhere.

10/10 👍
